Alternative bodies B2? B3?

Post by AYKBOBCAT »

Hello, after a few months away from home I get back into RC again

I know this has been discussed a few times already but what is the update on the RC10 shells? Looks like nothing is hapening at Towers and Van's invent (Dahms bodies) seems dead with a web page...

So please tell me it's not the end of the story. There must be some alternative body shells that fit the RC10... Any reproduction available? Or even a different type that we can use?

I have parts to built several buggies now. I also have a few shells but I want a roller so I don't want to destroy an original body if it is the last one I'll ever see!

So what's going on?

I used a desert gator, and Ferretti a sandviper. We used them on Ultima's but maybe their footprint wil for the RC 10 too.
Both are contemporary Tamiya: easy to get and very cheap

Ok could you give me some measurements at one point if you have a chance? We could compare it to actual RC10 bodies (I have an original here). Maybe the width at the nose and widest part?

Thanks for the info

I'm away from my toys at the moment if you do not have an answer when I get back to them I will check out the Sand Viper one I have but I think the Gator one would be better as it has a wider nose.

I've cut the sides on mine to fit it on the ultima chassis:
http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=2172

Now, I can only give you the width at the nose when I come home in a bit.

Maybe let someone try it on a graphite first :)
If they can trace and fax the footprint of the shell for you...

What about the B2 and B3 bodies? Do they fit on the gold pan?

Also would they fit on a T2 chassis converted to buggy? I'm working on that project right now. Ist the chape of the T2 frame the same as for the b2 and b3?

I think the key is to find a body that can clear the rear shock tower. Most of the latest buggies have a cockpit that is lower than the rear shock tower and has no rear overhang. Few, if any nwere bodies fit that requirement.

The cure there is to use a 10T rear shock tower.

David needs to post a pic of his B2 body on his tub car. It looks great. Or just go to reader's ride and look for his post as Assoman.

what about parma?
Did they make any decent bodies for the rc10?
about 5 years ago(before any tamiya re-release happened)somebody on rcmt.com got parma to do a short run of lexan lunchbox shells.
Maybe we could get them to do one for the rc10.
IIRC, one person had to order them from parma and then sold them, cost about $25 per body, I'm not sure what he paid for them.

Parma? :? A while back, I asked them about a short run of bodies...wrote a polite in-depth e-mail. Guess what the response was. 3 words and a contraction: We don't do that.

I've seen this Vanessa's lunchbox regularly on the shelves around Japan in the last months.
If this guy got them to make a short run, it must have been from an old mould Parma owns. That's quite different from creating something on order for a short run.

So, not very polite but an honest reply I'm affraid Rich'.

Yes, Parma made a short run off Lunchbox shells (which they have now put back into production after the Lunchbox rerelease) but if I recall he had to order 25 of them and pay a $200 setup fee. It also depends on whether they still have the moulds for the RC10 shells.

I used my B2 body on my double deck "world's" Composite Craft, but I also think it should fit a good old tub, just take care not to overtrim the bottom of the body because the B2 chassis was a bit higher on the sides...
