What will remove paint but not anodizing?

Post by nvxwax »

So i have a set of Tecnacraft wheels but they have paint on the back from being mounted to some painted hubs. Anybody have an idea how to remove the paint without hurting the Ano?

My first thought would be acetone, but I'd first try it on a different anodized part to make sure it won't remove anodizing.
Completed projects: CYANide Onroad Optima | Zebra Gold Optima | Barney Optima | OptiMutt RWD Mid
Gallery - Coel's Stalls: Marui Galaxy & Shogun Resto-Mods | FrankenBuff AYK Buffalo | 1987 Buick GNX RC12L3

you should be safe with acetone or paint thinner. I just soaked a black pan chassis in acetone yesterday with no ill effects(well, except for the glue and sticker residue being demolished  )

Generally if you don't want to hurt anodizing then stay away from stuff that contains caustic soda like oven cleaners

On a side note i also tried the acetone trick to remove some tires from a set of wheels, it also worked great, i was worried during the process, the tires kinda grew and got really soft, but after the glue was gone and the tires sat for a wile they were back to normal without the wheels attached :)
