Steve's $65 Never Run A-Stamp Gold Tub. :)

Post by huminski »

So I posted earlier today, this was up on craigslist a couple weeks ago for $80, with the title "AM RC Car" and the following pic..... I never bothered to follow up on it, figured it was a used up wreck.

It came up again yesterday, this time with the title "RC10 Original RC car". My buddy motivated me to call on it, I did, they seller knew nothing about it, couldn't tell me much about it other than it came with the "Brain" and the "moving things that make it turn and go" and he could hook it up to his kids power wheels battery to test it. I offered $60 for it since it was an hour drive, we settled on $65, and my wife graciously drove to get it while I was at work.

She sent me these pics from the car on the way home, I started getting a bit excited:

Took the electrics out after work and cleaned it up, but didn't need much in the way of cleaning. It has two non factory holes where the servo was mounted at an angle, and the hole where the antenna is mounted was countersunk on the bottom of the chassis. Other than that, I can't find a scratch. Even the spur is perfect. Tires are perfect. Everything is perfect. Please excuse all the pics, but I'm a proud new vintage RC10 owner. Also has a perfect confition Associated stock motor, and all the electronics (mechanical speed control, KO servos, and a Kyosho FM TX.

Here she is. Thanks Paulie. (my buddy who pushed me to call.) And thanks to my wife Michelle for picking it up for me on her day off. :)

You might want to release some of the tension on the springs and while you are at it make sure the shock top mounting nuts aren't too tight.

Nice score

I noticed how tight the springs were when I was taking the pics, they're been loosened. I'll check the shock nuts.

I'm amazed how clean and corrosion free this is. Tips for keeping it that way?

I am going to order a repop body and wing for it, and try to locate authentic wing mounting hardware and buttons. This one will be a nice sister piece to my never run 10-T.
