what elec touring cars will fit this body?
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXVP22&P=7
is it just different wheels that get you the 200mm or 190mm width?

Re: touring car question
Any 1/10 touring car should be ok.
200 mm would actually be for a 1/10 gas touring car, but you can get wheels with a wider offset (although I doubt they go up to 5mm).
Older kyosho tourers were on 200 mm also, Tamiya is 190mm.
The difference is usually in the arm length but you get can get the extra 10 mm from different wheels, spacers on the axles, or even different axles (like custom axles for the tlt 1). Tamiya wheels have pretty deep recesses for the hex, you can put a washer of 3MM at least on them, just use low profile nuts to make sure the nylon part still grips the thread.
I like using 200mm bodies on my 190mm cars because they don't rub the tires so easily

Re: touring car question
The body will fit perfectly on an electric chassis with HPI's 6mm offset wheels, which most of their wheels come in (0mm, 3mm and 6mm). Lots of dirt oval guys will use different offsets to be able to run 200mm nitro bodies.

Making a scale ride of the "bad Hoopty?"
What wheels do you have on the 1:1?
I wish I could do mine up, but it is the only generation VW that has no RC body available.

Re: touring car question
Not to diverge from hoopty's thread.... but you mentioned VW. So that means that temple and you have some VW history. What specifically if I may ask? My wife drives a 2000 1.8T and she has a '59 that is solid, but in need of a full resto. Not sure I have a pic of the 59, but I will see what I can come up with.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

Re: touring car question
I've Had my MKV GTI since 02/06, I got the first one the local dealer sold, and I love it. Before that I had a '98 gti-vr6. I got it new in may of 98 and it served me well until I traded it in on the new one.
I've always wanted an aircooled 'vert beetle, but never had the chance due to moving a lot for school. Now that I'm finally working, I'm stuck with a one car garage that is filled with tons of kids toys/bikes.
One of those is my daughters barbie VW new beetle Powerwheels.
I took it from a single motor 6v setup to a dual motor, dual gearbox 12v speeder with 12Ga wire, soldered connections and a few other custom upgrades.
I wanted to start her out right
Doug, are you on the vortex much? I don't go there too often, I don't know how you keep up with so many different forums/hobbies. If only I didn't have to work I'd have more time for them.

Yeah, they do, Bill. I have them on my TC3 using the Pirelli soft compound rally tires, and they work beautifully on most loose surface clay tracks. They look good, too.

Re: touring car question
I just sold my '97 GTI VR6. It was the second I had. Between my wife and I, we've had 15 different VAG products. I miss my first GTI VR6, but the best bang VW I've owned was my 20th Anniversary GTI. With just a chip and an intake, it was a helluva fun daily driver.aconsola wrote:I've Had my MKV GTI since 02/06, I got the first one the local dealer sold, and I love it. No, I'm not on VWvortex hardly at all anymore—just to recently sell my GTI, as a matter of fact. Jamie and I started that site in late 1997 and I was his business partner until 2001 when I left to keep my real career moving forward. I can still lay claim to naming the site and designing the logo that the site currently uses, though.Doug, are you on the vortex much? Luckily, the forums I own and maintain pretty much run themselves. I work on web stuff 60% of my day anyway, so if I need to do anything on any of the sites, it's not much effort to sneak something in here at work.
Back on the original subject, though... has anyone else ever created an RC model of their 1:1 car?

Re: touring car question
doubtful. These are standard 12mm hex touring wheels. you would have to figure out a provision for a front bearingAsso_man! wrote:does anyone know if any of these HPI wheels would fit a DS

Re: touring car question
Doug, Vortex any relation to SpeedArena?
I have had plans on doing a 1:10 verison of my 65 GT350R, but it just remained and still remains as a "plan".

Re: touring car question
That's awesome, I had no Idea you started that up. The vortex can be a very useful place, but unfortunately is overrun with kids talking about how "Hawt" their new rims are and sompeting to see who can make their car the least safe to drive in the name of style
I did do a scale-ish gti, I'll have to find the pics. I used some dollar store plastic mountain bikes and some styrene to make a thule roof rack. I scanned in my school window sticker and printed one out on clear label paper for the rear window. Unfortunately it was a mk4 HPI body and I had a MK3, but 99% of non v-dubbers can't tell the difference anyway
