Spektrum antenna question

Post by Goatless »

Someone refresh my memory please. What are the no-no's with the antenna? Keep it away from metal, plastic, graphite, carbon fiber? Away from servo, esc?

I had to relocate rx on the FT sc104wd. I'm looking to re-run the antenna or create a new mount. I just don't want it anywhere that may cause interference.

Just curl it around a hex driver and make a pigtail. That's about it for 2.4- It's not interference prone like FM/AM

The Spectrum wire seems to be pretty stiff compared to the regular antenna wire ( I think the Spectrum is solid wire? ) so alot of guys pigtail it and point it to the sky

I have a Spektrum receiver and wire mounted right next to the servo in my RC10. I just used a small antenna tube and haven't had any issues. I also have a Losi/Spektrum receiver mounted right next to the ESC in my crawler and use a short antenna tube to keep it hidden under the body.

Thanks for the input guys. It's been so long, I couldn't remember, lol. I came up with a solution that is clean, and will work well. I'm extremely anal on wiring. I don't even wanna see wires if I can help it! :?

This was my fix...

If you notice, in the top right is the original antenna mount. The rx is supposed to go on that side. I moved to this side because it is under the belt. The RX8 will not fit under the belt. Problem solved.

on all my 2.4 radios, I servo tape the antenna to the receiver itself. then when i move the receiver, i dont need to worry about it (or antenna holes)

I feel the same way. I love brushless motors, but 3 wires?? I would have loved to see them go to a single wire. Not that it's possible, but a guy can dream right?

For that kind of money! I did build a paper airplane earlier from a collection notice though. No wires!

Well, if this thread is going to completely de-rail than I'll tell this story:

When I was 22 I lived alone, partied like it was still cool and worked at a grocery store. They would let me cash personal checks. I got paid every Friday and would usually blow it all by Sunday. On Monday I would cash a check for $20. On Tuesday I would cash a check for $40. $20 would go to the bank to cover the $20 check and I would live on the other $20. I would repeat this process in various amounts all week. Week after week. :? Not exactly something to be proud of, but yet another saga in my life.
