Next Project...runner/racer
Well, I got a good portion of my parts in over this week to start looking over what I am going to do for my runner/racer.
Here are plans so far:
Start with 1 hacked gold tub, almost complete
andys rear trailing arms
hacked up graphite chassis
So my plan is this so far:
Take the hacked up gold chassis, mill the sides down, have the center milled out and bond the graphite plate (milled to match) into the "hole", add the trailing arm set up. I will keep all the white parts aside and replace them with black eventually. Before bonding, I will either have the chassis stripped/reanodised, or powder coated, color unknown.
Here are the pics of what I have so far:
And once I get chopping things up....(hope the milling is better than my MS paint abilities)

what trailing arms are those, i always thought they were andy's but i have a NIP "Houge Enterprises" set of the same exact ones lol, is that andy's but the older name? the package is ancient for it.

Re: Next Project...runner/racer
The package had a standard Andy's header card on it, but there is nothing on the directions indicating Andy's or Houge. Very stout parts, and to get perfect downtravel/uptravel, I ended up using a set of Losi front buggy shocks, .6 threaded bodies & .6 shafts.
I am contemplating using a current front end on the car, I read a thread about adapting a B4 nose on a gold pan, I just need to search for it (RC10B4.com forum). I am little hesitant to put brushless power into the 6 gear, but is should hold it fine.

Re: Next Project...runner/racer
I believe they are Andy's.... Houge parts were more "rounded" and the Andy's parts had the split where the shock mounts to the arm.

Re: Next Project...runner/racer
Just found/looked over that thread...that idea is out, I dont like the look. Back to the original plan....'91 worlds front end...somehow.
Dumb question, JRX front bulkheads were narrower, like the '91 worlds front end, would the RPM JRX front arms work, with the 10T front plate/bulkhead?

Re: Next Project...runner/racer
Thw width of the JRX2 and the 10T fronts are pretty much the same, the problem lies with the attachment holes. They are off just enough to make the drilling of either front end pretty nasty. Make sense? Hope that helps.

Re: Next Project...runner/racer
Thinking of the 10T bulkhead & noseplate with JRX2 arms attached....just curious of the width of the mounting point on the bulkhead versus the opening on the arms. I will hit the LHS and hope to pick up some stuff for a possible start today.

Re: Next Project...runner/racer
Want me to take some measurements? Which do you want, JRX2 or 10T measured? Just specify and I will measure away.

Re: Next Project...runner/racer
if you have both parts, just where the hingepin would pass through on both parts, 10t bulkhead, jrx arms...I wouldnt have a problem shaving one or the other....or both. Guess another option would be to look at the B3 RPM from arms also...

Re: Next Project...runner/racer
After looking at another Andy's trailing arm car, I see mine is not alone with the dog bones swept forward. I have read (on this forum somewhere?????) for best performance, you want the bones swept back. Short of creating a custom one off chassis (which is an option, someone got a sheet of flat stock CF they are willing to part with?), best option to get the driveline into alignment?
See up above, top down pic of trailing arm suspension mounted.

Re: Next Project...runner/racer
well, here's mine with a 6 gear. the universals are pretty much straight across. the chassis and suspension are laying flat on the table in this pic. when the arms are dropped, they sweep front a little bit.

Re: Next Project...runner/racer
I wonder if the Andy's chassis has anything to do with that...
I need to get over to Pegasus Hobbies and haras Andy some, see if he will admit to a secret stash of stuff.
