JR-T / LX-T Carpet Oval Truck

I just got my hands on a JR series chassis. I was torn between build a shelfer with it or making a runner. I decided to build a carpet oval truck to help us lay down some grip on our track for the winter. I won the truck off of eBay. It was in pretty rough shape but really all I wanted was the chassis any way. It will be a LX-T but it will have a JR chassis. Here are some pics of the pile of parts after I striped it down and cleaned the chassis. Stay tuned.....

Here's my LX-T that I raced on carpet ovals as a kid. It's close to how it was back then, except for the .36 shocks and yellow motor plate.
I ran A&L Roadkill & BTS Liberator, Dahm's Ruff- E-Nuff SE and Andy's Lo Profile bodies. I had Trinity...

Anyone here racing still carpet oval? We have a nice track about 45min from my place here on the east coast of canada. Seems like back in the 90's tracks/clubs where everwheres but now not many around. What there is left sems to be mainly east coast...

After racing all forms of rc since the 80'd i'd say carpet oval is by far the hardest and most complicated to do. It doesen't sound like it would be but it is.....

From what little I was told, this was built and raced in the 80s, and has sat more or less untouched ever since. It's never been cleaned or anything.

It has the following aftermarket parts on it:

Hot Trick front and rear A-arms.
Litespeed...

RCCA ran an article sometime around '90-91 where a guy set up an RC10 for indoor carpet oval. I cannot for the life of me remember which model he started with. Maybe a graphite of some sort. Anyway, he replaced the front shocks with tie rods and put...

I'm guessing from the sweet polish on the bottom of this it was used mainly on carpet, that and the mega wide stance.
Going to throw in a cheap brushless and have some fun ;-)

I am wanting to turn one of my RC10T's into an oval truck. I have no clue as to what parts it takes to convert. Looking for help in getting started and straightened out on what assoicated parts are needed and what parts from other associated trucks...

Which threaded shock set will you be starting with? From what I can tell, the VCS and VCS2 shocks are the on-road ones, and the V2 shocks are the new off-road shocks. It doesn't look like they make the V2 shocks shorter than the .89 B4 fronts. These...
