MIP 4 WHEEL DRIVE QUESTIONS. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT.

Post by K-TOWN-KITT »

HELLO EVERYONE. I HAVE JUST RECIEVED MY FIRST RC-10 WITH A MIP 4WD CONVERSION. THERE IS NO TENTION PULLY. I HAVE SEEN A FEW DIFFERENT PULLY STYLES. ONE THAT COMES UP FROM THE CHASSIS AND ONE THAT MOUNTS TO THE SIDE WHERE THE NOSE TUBE IS. THE BELT RIDES ON THE BOTTOM OF THE REAR BULKHEAD. I DON'T LIKE THAT. NEW HOLES WERE DRILLED INTO NOSE PLATE AND IT WAS MOVED UP ABOUT 1/2 INCH. PROBABLY TO STREACH THE BELT. THERE IS A KIT FOR LONGER SHOCKS ON THE FRONT. I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S PART OF THE 4WD KIT OR NOT. I WOULD THINK SO BECAUSE THE FRONT DIFF CUTS WAY INTO THE FRONT TOWER. IT LOOKS LIKE WITHOUT THE SUPPORT, THE TOWER WOULD BREAK EASILY. THIS DOESN'T WORK FOR ME BECAUSE I WANT THE 4WD FOR A BUGGY. ALSO THE RIGHT FRONT CVD IS BENT. SORRY FOR THE BAD PICS. I HAD TO TAKE THEM WITH MY PHONE. MY REGULAR CAMERA TAKES PICS WITH TO MANY BITES. THANKS FOR READING THIS AND ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT. THANK YOU.

ARE THE FRONT CVDS THE SAME LENGTH AS THE REARS ON A STOCK RC-10?

WHICH IS THE CORRECT TENSION PULLY?

ARE THE LONGER SHOCKS PART OF THE 4WD KIT?

WHAT ARE THE WHITE PARTS ON THE SERVO FOR? A GUIDE?

look in the scans archive on this site, there is a copy of the MIP 410 legends kit instructions there, the white piece on the servo is the MIP belt tensioner, there should be a small mount with idler bearing mounted to the rear bulkhead on the trany side as well, the piece on your front shock tower is definately home made not part of the kit, the front CVD bone is longer than the rear, I only know this because I just got my first kit as well check the pics of mine they might help.

WHERE DOES THE IDLER GO? ON THE REAR BULKHEAD BY THE BATTERY?

Front CVD is longer than the rear in 4wd. Longer shocks are not part of the kit, it should be use the original shocks. White parts on the servo were the belt guide.

Ok guys. Thanks for the info. I have torn the buggy down since my last visit and have some new pics to share and a few questions. First off, pretty amazing design this is. it's pretty cool how the one way diff is made and works. The ends of the drives are cut in such a way that they act as the catch for the bearing. if you changed them around the diff would work backwards. this leads me to ask this. if you can switch the drives to work in reverse, can you flip the front diff case around to the front of the tower, flip the trans around, and run it like that?

I almost forgot. Does anyone have a tention pully i can borrow for a very long time? :D

SORRY AGAIN FOR THE BAD PICS. IT'S EMBARRASSING.

IT SEEMS I NEED THE REAR ROLLER, MOUNT, AND BEARING IF IT'S AN ODD BALL SIZE. 3/16X5/16 IS A COMMON RC-10 REAR BEARING RIGHT? SORRY I DON'T KNOW ALL THE TECHNICAL SIZES AND ITEM NUMBERS. I'M JUST A DUDE WHO BUYS, REBUILDS, AND FINDS A GOOD HOME FOR THEM. I WOULD DEFINATELY LIKE TO MAKE AN ARRANGEMENT BUT I JUST JOINED SO I CAN'T B/S/T QUITE YET. I DON'T THINK MY KIT IS GOING ANYWHERE SO GIVE ME A LITTLE TIME TO GET MY PARTICIPATION UP THERE AND I WILL ASK THE ADMINS. THANKS.

avidrc.com can help if you want to replace those bearings you have.

I thought nothing of it until my tranny binded up when one failed. they are like a dollar a piece so no breaking the bank.

I JUST GLANCED AT AVID RC AND ADDED THEM TO MY FAVORATES. DO THEY OFFER FREE SHIPPING WITH BIG ORDERS? I WOULD PROBABLY BUY A GROSS BETWEEN ALL THE SIZES. I LIKE TO BUY IN BULK WHEN IT COMES TO THE RC-10 ITEMS FOR REBUILDS. LIKE BODIES FOR EXAMPLE. I LIKE TO BUY MY RC-10 BODIES FROM HORIZON. I PICK AND CHOOSE 5 BODIES, VIPER OR PROTECH, AND 5 WING KITS, A BUNCH OF COMBINATIONS. THEY USUALLY TOTAL AROUND $70. AND FREE SHIPPING. GREAT DEAL. THEY ARE ALWAYS SEALED WITH ASSOCIATED'S MODERN HEADDER CARD.

Awesome car and I hope you are able to get it running. We are excited and want to help. Friendly tip: Turn off the caps lock. It's interpreted as yelling and it's hard to read. :)

orders over $40 get free first class usps if just small parts. orders with their bodies or something require $80 to get free shipping.

I didnt even know that until just recently when I got free shipping on an order.
