My RC10T2 - I still have it after all these years.

Post by RC10th »

I thought I'd dig out my old RC10T2 and share photos of it. This was my second ever RC car which I purchased new from Sheldons hobbies. My first car was an RC10 given to me a few years earlier as a Christmas present from my dad. I always liked the look of stadium trucks though, so I saved my money and bought this T2 new.

I used to also save my lunch money from school and buy hop-ups from the local hobby shop as I could afford them. The only item I didn't get that I really wanted were the RRP ball cups with set screws in them. It was my pride and joy.

There are lots of rare parts on this truck from HG trans parts, MIP aluminum CVD's, MIP gold shock shafts, RRP light weight slipper, titanium ball studs, hinge pins etc, the list goes on. Strangely enough I kept all of the header cards for this truck.

I'll have to find the track photos I have of it when I used to race it in the mid-late 90's.

I still have my first RC10 but will always have a soft spot for this T2

Great looking truck! You can tell how much you enjoyed this truck and how well you took care of it. The truck still looks new.

Thanks, It was only raced on clay tracks aside from parking lots and other assorted bashing. I always used to tear it down and clean it after a day of bashing or racing.

One of the most memorable moments I have with it were at Dansey's Indoor R/C Raceway in Vegas. One was seeing Richard Saxon but mainly from getting tips and pointers from Regan Leblanc, his pit mechanic. I was only something like 14 at the time so I was over the moon.

Regan also gave me a team battery to try for which I felt privileged. To this day I don't think I've ever met a nicer RC guy.

Really nice looking T2 :)
Hoping to get my restoration on the way now regarding the chassis.
Not the easiest part to get hold on.. the original is in bad shape man.

Thanks guys, it's sort of like a mini time capsule as it hasn't been touched in over 10 years.

You guys are probably tired of seeing this truck by now. I found some old photos I took way back when and while I had no luck on a date stamp are at least 15 years old. I remember the camera taking a 3.5" floppy disk!

If anyone has a "Flying M" sticker I would like to put it back to original. It looks like the original was a bit torn up so I must have replaced it.

Thanks Dave - This T2 and I have a long standing relationship, ha ha

littleVETTE - I probably would dremel it out if I was going to run it more. I've run it in the past with the alloy CVD's without problems. I'd think they'd be quite rare now so I wouldn't want to destroy them. I still have the first broken MIP Lite Drive that I broke in Las Vegas.

Pretty trippy looking at the old and new photos, the zip tie on the motor wires is still the same.

good call on not running them. i think those mip lite drives were made for the aluminum bones. because running them with stock universals, or even the cvd's would wear them out quickly. real brittle. that's the third time, i've heard that about breaking one.

If I remember it broke while running steel universals, I also remember exactly where on the track it broke. The Sonic II "?" 10x2 was pretty big power back then.

One day I'll find the photos of the track.

damn. what happened? not enough spacers on the axle, or the shocks? that would be awesome to those pics.
