Man that sucks. As a lover of old school RC paintjobs, I have always admired his work. The simple color blocking is so classic, I still use that style on modern bodies.
i'll see if romulus could post his recent words on chris chan that he shared on facebook. there's some interesting photos that you guys will like too. this guy is probably the reason why we bought rc10's and rc car action magazines. i know i did.
Chris was found dead from a blunt force trauma caused by a fall in his Santa Monica condo.
Chris is survived by his mother Bertha Chan, ex-wife Lyn Chan and their two sons.
Chris has been a slot racer since 1959, starting with Aurora Model Motoring HO scale vibrator cars before moving on to 1:32 scale Strombecker and Revell cars at Janohn's and the Brentwood Youth House in 1960.
When the slot car boom hit in the mid-60's he turned to 1:24 commercial tracks and was the Los Angeles area representative at the 1965 Western Regionals, where he was awarded the concours cup. While still attending University High in West L.A. he became the technical and feature writer for Model Car Science magazine for three years.
Retiring from the professional slot car ranks in 1967, he went to the Art Center College of Design to study advertising and graphic design. In 1971, Chris won Team Associated's first National Championship and switched from slots to RC. Shortly afterwards he founded Chan Design, the advertising agency which created advertising, logos, packaging and events for Aurora/AFX, Tyco, Team Associated, Futaba, Tamiya America, Yokomo as well as bicycle accounts such as Shimano, Diamond Back, Nishiki and Vetta.
Deciding that three decades in the Ad biz were quite enough, Chris has gone back to future to bring back slot car racing and model cars in general to the Westside with Mr. Model Car. He has converted an office suite into a raceway with a semi-scale replica of the now-defunct Riverside Raceway in 1:32 scale.
In recent years Chris’s health did not permit him to participate in Slot Car Racing as much. Though when well would participate in the FarrOut Slot Car club.
Chris has touched and inspired many people over the years through his work in Design and his many affiliations through the Slot and RC hobbies.
Sincerely,
Romulus Von Stezelberger

It's been just over a year now that the man who made this ad back in the day passed away. If anyone remembers getting a physical copy of RCCA in the day, you should recognize the ad picture at the bottom of the link.

Hi
After a long time out from the hobby I have just unearthed the Schumacher Procat that I bought second hand as a kid. I decided to get it running again and have found RC10Talk a great resource and inspiration for the project.
Thanks to the...

Hi Lotus74
I've never raced before but hope to go to the Brett Davis Vintage GP in January. I have a few cool cars now, so I just need to focus my efforts on making them race worthy.
My builds are going out of sequence. My 6 yo kid had enough fun with my team at build and asked to build a truck. I just happened to have the parts from an eBay find washed and hydrated. I was going to finish my team car first but, I wanted to jump...

So in getting more details on the build. The decals were originally printed by Complex Ink. The chassis protector is going to be a challenge. It was from Scvrc which is now closed. Apparently the dog was called carter and winners of club races...
So I finished off my XX Kinwald build, and the car is running nicely now. I also stripped down my original XX and that's sitting in parts ready to be rebuilt. Obviously the thing to do is go and buy another XX for another build! I have issues....

guys, sorry the pic didn't show, I didn't check it afterwards.
Update on this one is the car is stripped down, and cleaned up the parts, but I've not yet rebuilt it.
I have had a few more cars on the table needing a rebuild so prioritised them,...

I just won this on eBay. I haven't got it yet, these are the pics from the auction. The seller claims that it was team driver Chris Raceles' truck from the 1994 Winter Champs. It looks pretty legit as a period correct racer, and the stickers...

Sorry guys, no new pics to post at this time. It's actually pretty dusty/dirty from sitting on my hobby room shelf, it really needs to be torn down and cleaned up. I did install a nice used OS12CZ-Z, a nice set of factory team shocks, and some...
Some years ago I received a hand cutted chassis and some other stuff for showing at Classic RC museum. All of this stuff was prototype stuff during development of a certain 1/12 scale car. Other parts will be used from the production car or what is...

Seems that I have lost the rear axle completely. So everything including the diff is missing. I suppose there is no point for me trying to restore it. Any interest in parts here? Here’s all that is left.
