kyosho outrage (runner) FINISHED

Post by heavy_gear »

hello

At the beginning of the summer, i picked up a nice kyosho from ebay,
a quick once over and a good clean and it was ready to go.

i have ran it all summer long, and i gotta say this thing is tough, almost bulletproof,
it was now ready for a good clean en some lube, after a nice summer.
so i'd thought it might be a good time to show you guys, and to fix up
the problems i encountered this summer.

here go's :

pics are bad, i have an crappy camera.
and now all clean and serviced:

Image

there's a crack in the bottom plate, how to strenghten this???

so my short list is:

find a nice baja beetle body (suggestions?)
strenghten back plate (crack)
somehow secure battery pack, now it slides out.
strenghten steering rods
find stronger battery connectors

another problem i have is, it is so powerfull, that when i want to turn,
it skips over the front wheels and turns difficult.
specs are: 17t brushed motor, robbe rookie esc, 2.4ghz receiver.
4000mh battery

this is a great runner and basher, if i find another one i definitely
gonna buy it. its tons of fun

greets

The outrage was a decent little buggy. They hate almost every part with the ultima II so you can do some parts swapping if you want.

As for the crack I would tear it all apart and use some strong epoxy to glue it all back together. Then it should be ready to go.

I thought I had a spare chassis for you but it's cracked too.

You could do like traxxas and build a thin g10 piece to go under the back and keep it from tearing out the plastic. It would be very easy!

That's a great idea. Traxxas did that for a number of years with good success. My nitro stampede comes that way.

The battery is supposed to be held in with removable zip-ties. But they last about 10 runs before they don't zip shut any more. Luckily, there is a very cheap, effective, and long-lasting substitute: elastic hair ties!

$3 at any drug store. Fit them on like this: (this is a Raider, but the idea is the same)

hey guys

@mark, thanks for the tip of the hair elastics, thats a nice and cheap way to fix it!!

@gomach : what do you mean with a ''g10'' piece at the back, i tried googling it but no luck,
do you mean like a thin piece of aluminium, that curves up at the motor, like some sort of chassis/motor guard??

In the pic below, see the fiberglass piece on the right? Goes under trans and on top of chassis- meat in the sandwich. Traxxas has the same problem and that's how they fixed theirs

Metal would be fine too 8)

What tires are on your Outrage? They look very realistic and would look great with a Bug body.

Like your Outrage. Simple and clean. For the beetle bodies, Parma and Proline make some. The Parma looks like the Tamiya Monster Beetle body. Proline makes 2 different ones. The full fendered one is meh to me. I like the Baja Bug one better. The Parma would be my choice though. 8)

@vwjuice: Those wheels and tires are made by Carson. They come as a set with the tires glues on. Here is the site: http://www.carson-modelsport.com/en/products/accessories/tiresandrims110/produktdetails.htm?sArtNr=500900027. The wheels are a little brittle but they are quite inexpensive.

just a little update, nothing big,

i found a spare parts chassis, from a kyosho sandmaster (nitro)
it has alot of identical parts to the outrage.

i now have 2 nice bumpers, body posts, front and rear arms, shocktowers
a gearbox and most important a NON broken chassis plate. (non broken is that correct english?, sounds odd)

i've repaired my original chassis with some epoxy glue, so we will see how long it holds up,
im working on beefing it up with some metal re'inforcement.
and IF it breaks, now i have a spare chassis :)

i've also got some yellow tamiya spike tyres for offroading, haven't tried them yet,
but for running i think theire just fine.
and i've got an sweet nosram vision motor 19x2, might use it on this car,
not sure yet.

havent found an body yet, its harder then i imagined to find a parma or proline beetle body
in my country. i have found one webshop, and it says its for traxxas slash, so im not sure if it will fit.
can someone give me the measurements of the proline body OR a site with measurements of the thing.?!?

its going slow but steady with this one, just to much stuff, to little time :)
next on the list, adjustable tie rods, body, make some curly servo wires.
i feel alot more secure running and bashing, now i have some parts.

thanks in advance for the help

greetings

ps: check out my purple hair tie, works like a charm,

The bug body for the Slash will NOT fit. It is a lot bigger. It'll fit on a 1/8 scale buggy.

If I may ask, where are you located? Also you could try Ebay. You should be able to find one there.
