Goodwood Festival of Speed England - fullscale
Someone ever had been at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England or plan to visit? Since I discovered this at the internet I want visiting. It seems there are all the interesting racecars of past and now including CanAm and Group-C, my favourites. Fullscale cars it is.

Re: Goodwood Festival of Speed England - fullscale
Hi There,
Yeah, I've been a few times - probably the last time was about five years ago. It really is amazing, the variety of cars, the atmosphere and the fact you can stroll through the paddock talking to the drivers, mechanics and owners just makes it a really special day. Mind you, the reason I haven't been back there since is because it was getting so busy you really needed to go for two days to see everything properly, plus the Formula 1 teams were starting to take over the paddock - and they don't do chatting. No idea if it continued down that route or has gone back to how it used to be.
If you're making a special trip, then it might be worth Googling for the other awesome Goodwood event - The Goodwood Revival. That is based at the Goodwood circuit, rather than Lord March's driveway and is by all accounts a magical event albeit historic cars (and everything else) only, so not quite the same variety. I keep promising myself I'll go to it each year, but haven't yet...
Whichever you choose, have fun and take loads of pics for us!

I can only wish! This is one of the all time events on my bucket list! That and do some laps on Nurburgring as well as see 24 Hours of Le Mans... Some day maybe!

So living in the UK has proved to be an advantage for something at least!

X2! I've got one of the 3, went to Le Mans in 2002. Awesome doesn't do it justice. Need to put a Pikes Peak (though it's not the same now that it's paved) and a MINT 400 on that list.slotcarrod wrote:I can only wish! This is one of the all time events on my bucket list! Yep, another good one. I went in 2003 for the Ford 100 year reunion. Again, AWESOME! Any year would be good to go to.slotcarrod wrote:This is another one I would like to go to: http://www.mazdaraceway.com/rolex-monterey-motorsports-reunion

Not sure if I will make it to Goodwood as I still have to find someone joining me on the trip there. Otherwise too expensive.Groomi wrote:Whichever you choose, have fun and take loads of pics for us!:)
But maybe you will like pictures of an exhibition on Porsche Le Mans cars for supporting their new project. Not sure where to post full-scale race car pics so I think this forum might be OK. All cars are owned by the Porsche factory museum, I was told they have about 500 historic race cars which are shown at their museum and abroad. Sometimes they are moved at a race track also. Unfortunately my favourite Porsche race car the 917K was not shown but some others.

917/20 Coupe (1971)
The 917/20 was a mix of short and long version and just one car of this kind was built. But had a DNF at Le Mans.

My cousin has been to goodwood a few times and always says I should go with him but with two young kids it's a bit hard many this year as I've not been to a good car show in years.
