"Just run the %$#@!! thing!"
I built my Classic over Xmas break, completely stock except for a full set of bearings (mix and match, some new, some old), ordered up a new Novak Edge ESC and 17.5 turn brushless motor for it... and couldn't bring myself to run it. Or even paint it. Or trim the body. It has been sitting there, on a car stand, for three months now. Meanwhile, I sold my old beater RC10, and the "nice" runner, which makes this my only buggy.
Which means it's gotta get run at some point.
So, today, I slapped on an old worn set of tires and wheels from my tire drawer (everyone has a tire drawer, right?), added an old Pro-Line bumper to keep the noseplate from getting scratched just yet, and plopped my "clownfish" Protech body on it.
Now it's ready to rock.
As soon as it stops raining...

Oh no, I wouldn't presume to tell anyone else what to do with theirs. I just need to force myself to put that first scratch on mine.
Re: "Just run the %$#@!! thing!"
Do it! Once you get 1 scratch, you might as well run it every day. I never understood the shelf queen thing myself, but that is just me.

I also thought this was going to be a rant at others to run their shelf queens. Which I wouldn't have minded as I enjoy reading them and ranting myself.

Run it stress free while replacement 'rere' tubs are available! If you scratch the heck out of it and want to return it to shelf status, just grab a brand new tub.
Rere's should be relatively easy to refurb for the next couple years.

I started to make a Sand Scorcher box art shelf queen. Yeah it lasted all of about 10 mins and I ran outside and drove it around in the sand at a local park, then on the grass, through my wifes garden (she LOVED that )
With my re-re, its in shelf status for now until I do the box art body (some day). I'm betting that one lasts 15 mins before I'm itching to run it too

Well, I only had a few minutes between the raindrops today, but...
And there it is. I feel better now.

On another note: this is my first experience with a modern sensored brushless/lipo battery combo. Holy crap is it quick. I need to become a better driver.

That, or one of the many photos over in the gravel that didn't make the cut. Hard to drive this thing one-handed and work a camera at the same time...SFC K wrote:I'm guessing some where in the third picture is how you got those scratches...

You should practice holding a beer in one hand, and drive with the other! Use thumb for steering!
Nice to see it getting run!

Re: "Just run the %$#@!! thing!"
Tried swapping the worn-out knobbies for some old Dual Sport wheels and tires. It's now my new favorite on-roader!
Handles great, and it much less bothered by the occasional pine cone in its path than my pan cars. Needs stiffer springs to reduce roll, and maybe a more roadworthy body. But I think I'm going to keep it like this for a while, and put together another RC10 for off-road duty.
