Looking to buy a new car and need suggestions

Post by happytrees »

Hey guys!

I am still fairly new to R/C cars due to my lack of money in the past. I actually have some more money now and was interested in buying a car. I was curious what is suggested.

I like the idea of buggies more, but maybe a stadium truck would be better due to my inexperience? I am essentially looking for a baser that I could still bring to a track that isn't too expensive to buy/maintain.

Any help would be great!

When I got back into it recently, I started off with an Associated B4.2 RS RTR buggy.

You can find them all day for $250, and they are brushless and have a 2.4 GHZ radio system. All you need is a battery pack (LiPo highly reccomended) and some AA's for the radio. Mine is a lot of fun for bashing around and does pretty decent on the track. You can upgrade it pretty easy too as you get better at driving and or break things.

Hmm. That is pretty much what I had in mind. I just wanted to get a confirmation really before I went out and bought it. Thanks!

That's a good choice. I'd say get the B4.2 RTR, plus this:

And this:

And done.
Those two things I would install before driving it. Other than that, just upgrade as you break or become unsatisfied with performance.
. . . you have Associated Green Slime for brains. And not even new Green Slime, but old gooped out Green Slime.

I haven't needed that first thing even though my car has taken some pretty hard hits. Seems pretty durable. I have thought about the bumper though to help protect things.
The only thing I have broken on the car was the stock steering servo, but again it took a lot of hard hits to do it. Overall I'm really impressed with the car. And with my 35C 5000 mAh battery it's pretty decently fast.
