Back when I raced when as a kid I worked m way up to a 870c dogfighter and even in my hands was a good car.
I remember when the works 91 was in all the mags and as most kids I could never afford one till now.
This arrived in the post this morning
Bought from a fellow oople'er a low use car which is in great condition just needs a bit of time spending on it.
So now to pick people's brains. I'm taking it the front shock tower will be a hop up? and I didn't realise the front box was plastic/nylon, what do I need to do other than strip and rebuild the diffs to get it back on the track?
And yes I know I'm gonna have to get the nail varnish remover out ASAP
It may well be a 92 I'm trying to find out if the car came with the belts or he changed them at some point as he's had it since new. Tbh I'm glad it's got the 3m belts I was going to try and change them anyway.
What other differences was there from the 91 to the 92?
I've spoken to the guy I got it from and he's adamant it's a 91. So he was obviously mis sold it as he's had it from new and said he remembers the box having 91 on it.
He's also now found the works 91 instructions that came with it (again in Japanese) which he's going to post to me.
So from all that if it's got all the 92 bits it must be as he's told me he can't remember changing the belts or anything else on the car as that's how it came.
Well I've never seen a Works '92 box. Even the Works '93 box is a '91 box with a sticker on it that says Works '93. Maybe there was a similar Works '92 sticker that was made? I don't know. What I can say is that I have two original Works '91 manuals, but one has pictures of what are clearly Works '92 parts while the other has pics of what are clearly Works '91 parts.
I recon it was a 92 in a 91 box if it's got all the 92 bits on as he said he only used it a few times and didn't do much to it but he did say that the shells not original.

I ordered the Tugh belts for mine like stick said he used. Took 2 weeks from Korea. Was around 17 shipped for both. Seam to be easier and cheaper than finding originals if this is a runner.
Hi guys. Im currently designing parts for the works 91. Im working off patterns supplied by Stickboy007.(huge thanks!) S0, I dont have a complete car to work with. Heres what Im wondering. How do you guys feel about Yokomo using additional holes in the works 91 bulk head caps to mount the top plate? I didnt realize this untill comparing my 870c top deck to the works91 topdeck,, and it became apparent that the works91 top deck does not mount through the 2mm holes that the bulk head caps secure with. So, was the builder required to make these holes them self, or were the works 91 bulk head caps pre drilled with these holes?
What size and type hardware secures the wks91 top deck?
As restoration aficionados, would there be any interest in a works 91 top deck that mounts same as the 870c topdeck, through the 2mm bulkhead screw holes,, but looks otherwise like a proper works 91 part,,, just no extra holes in the bulk head caps, and slightly longer front and rear to accommodate the factory 2mm screws?
Thanks! You guys really motivate me. Im hoping to have a works 91 replica here soon. Got most of the hardware,, working on the flat plate parts.
