2WD MR4-BC
I'm just putting up a couple pics of the cars I ran during my radio-silence.
There were more, but these are the only ones which are still presentable.
This Yoke got a new full bottom chassis which I trimmed most of the inner ribs off: to allow some different layouts. The servo is moved on the centerline now the belt is gone. shorty in the back opposite of the motor, and ESC and receiver in front of the motor. Blue associated GT shocks do a great job, and give just a little extra travel over the originals. But more important : they leak a lot less. The body is a Tamiya Baldre I painted about 6 years ago.
And for compatibility with most of my other cars, it runs on 12mm hexes all around.

Re: 2WD MR4-BC
looks killer ed. lol
joking aside, i would like to see how you modded your chassis. and you're running all hexes on stock axles? or did you find some cvd's or cva's that did the job?

Didn't get the joke, but I was told there's a problem with viewing the pics in my recent posts, so maybe that's it?
Should be fixed now.
And here are some under-the-body shots: with a mockup of the electronics and current state.

Re: 2WD MR4-BC
How did you like the 2wd handling? I have run an mr4bc in 4wd mode and thought it was fantastic! Also, there should be enough parts on the bay right now to make it 4wd again if thats an issue... mr4bc is def one of my favorite pre modern buggies.

Re: 2WD MR4-BC
It used to be 4WD, I had to run it in 2WD when I converted it to a stadium truck for racing.
And we only can run 2WD in stock class too, so it remained that way.
I enjoyed how it ran in 2WD on astroturf, but just around the same time I also finished another project and this one got in the background.
I'm keeping it whole apart from the removed electronics, so I can get it back to running should I want to.
Oh, for the hex conversion: up front I think I used tamiya M-chassis axles (the kind you find on the non-driven wheels). In the back are universals and different hubs, both from 2 different Academy cars I think.

Re: 2WD MR4-BC
Not really: I have the MX-4 slipper clutch in it.
The outdoor track I ran at has pretty coarse sand grains in the astroturf though, so it mad e uggly noises a couple times.
And that's one of the reasons I preferred running the other car. Open gearboxes are a risk unless running indoors. And the spur of the MR4-bc or MX4 are not so cheap and easy to find.

Re: 2WD MR4-BC
Looks like you've got a hex conversion done too.
And replaced the shocks for something that will actually hold oil while running
The MX-4 clutch is dearly missed by the MX-4 , but holds up ok. I lost a couple thrust balls when I opened it up the first time but it doesn't seem to be much affected by that. And you have to set it pretty firm to keep it set anyway.

Re: 2WD MR4-BC
that's good to hear about your clutch. sounds like it's taking it like a champ. thrust and diff balls could still be easily replaced.
no hex conversion on mine yet. i have plenty of wheels stocked at the moment. but i am looking for axles to accommodate hexes for this buggy. lots of trial and error. the big bores are a breath of fresh air. plush. gave the old shocks an oil break. lol

Re: 2WD MR4-BC
ah, the SP wheeels fooled me. Does ithave the longer wheelbase like the SP too?
I was told it is not hard to do , no need to buy the extension kit?

Re: 2WD MR4-BC
the buggy is the special edition. yes, the sp wheels. i hate the design of the hubs. which means you have to go searching for these particular wheels all the time. hence the eagerness to find a hex mod.
the buggy does have the long wheelbase. there was a LWB conversion kit for the buggy. but you could easily put it together like you stated. all you need is the zs-300rl rear bulkhead and cap, a couple of arm mount spacers, and the rear alloy end support zs-300rs. your stock rear hinge pins should fit your LWB conversion.

Re: 2WD MR4-BC
That alloy part I didn't know. That's a bit more than it's worth to me. The short wheelbase is fine as the tracks I usually run at have many turns and short straights.

Re: 2WD MR4-BC
I bought the part stock for the Wyvern from the german distributor. Still have some blue ones left.
There was a white one also, and I had 2 yellow ones from the griffin pro kits I bought some years ago. All in use now
