Has anyone plotted their roll center?

Post by jmmorriso »

Hey all, I built a gold pan complete with sc10/b4 hex conversion in the front and xxx-cr rear hubs and dynotech rear arms. I plotted the roll center on vsusp (a free utility I found online) and found its about 11mm above ground at ride height 24mm and goes to 12mm under ground with ride height 0mm. I cant seem to find roll center specs on any newer cars to compare it to. So has anyone plotted their roll center? The local track is damp tacky clay indoors and doesnt seem to bluegroove due to the variety of cars that run on it and the high number of hackers such as myself. Im still learning but Im learning a lot every day I hit the track. If anyone wants to chime in on weight bias front rear or the differences between having the weight near the cars centerline versus on the warp nacelles on either side of the pan. so far I chopped the sides of the pan and beltsanded the bejesus out of the bottom and took 34g off! I also bought some light lipos so I can put a bunch of ballast in the car and be at minimum weight if I ever get good enough to race. I know the kids with the new equipment are gonna be sooo jealous when this thing is dialed in!

Hey thanks for the compliment! I was looking at those scales on ebay too! I think I may go the cheap route and pick up 4 pocket sized gram scales from Harborfreight. Since my main concern is front-rear weight I'm not worried about wedge/crossweight or left side weight. Let us all know how they work though please! found out I have to work Saturday so no track time to try all the cool stuff I learned this week. Has nobody seriously plotted their roll center? I can't be the only one can I?

If you want to get really scientific about it, you could pick up one of these:

I thought so too, but not something I'd ever use...

Well, like I'll ever use half the parts I have either :D

Err no I do some work with fluid dynamics instead. I take lots of money and flush it down the toilet on rc cars, but it's so much fun!
