Homemade indoor 1/24 scale sprint fun
Gettin' to the line for another race...
My brother-in-law made an oval the entire width of one of his spare bedrooms, and 4 of us burned through batteries all night, from 9pm until 3am. Well, I wussed out and left at 3, I had to be up at 6:30am to get the son ready for school - everyone else was still going strong when I left. I'm feeling it today, though...I'm getting too old to function on 3 hours of sleep.
But damn it was fun! Actually, there were sprints, rallies, sc trucks, late models, and truggies (all 1/24 scale) that we cycled through. The track was newly built, so still a few little wrinkles (literally) to work out. The orange is bit much, but when the materials are free, you can't complain a lot.

That looks like a hell of a lot of fun. Did you shoot any video of the races?

just a short one from my phone, which is crap quality. When I have time, I'll upload it.
It was a LOT of fun. We just need to get some more comfortable chairs in there (and maybe a minifridge
). We had folding metal chairs, and after 6 hours, my back is killing me.
But yes, it was awesome, being stuck inside for months because of the weather...and finally getting to race all night. Great time.

Are they Micro T based? I love the way they look.
This reminds me of the Mini Z days, up all night racing
Good stuff

The sprints are built on the Losi Micro Rally/SCTE chassis. The body, wings, and rear tires are all fabbed from scratch.

Here's a quick short video...lousy quality, like I said, my phone takes crap video. Next time I will try to remember to take a decent camera or my gopro.
Notice there's a lot of spinning out, lol. It's a new track with a new surface, very different than the surface it had last year when it was set up in his basement, so we are still getting used to it. Plus the walls are rubberized foam to prevent damage to the cars, so when you hit a wall, it stops your car dead in its tracks.
Makes it more interesting...

Re: Homemade indoor 1/24 scale sprint fun
The surface it used to have was a very smooth vinyl, which was great for throwing your car into a drift around the corners. This new surface has a good bit more grip, though not a huge amount, so it'll take some gettin' used to. We keep turning into the walls, because we're used to sliding a lot more...

That looks like it would be a blast! Temperature controlled too!
