Outrage rebuild
Outrage rebuild
I’m currently rebuilding my daughters outrage in preparation for our new vintage class.
It’ll be running a 60amp esc and a 17.5t motor and a reedy round stick style LiPo. It’s going to run the stock tires and wheels until I get some jconcepts for the rc10 classic.
I’m having a couple issues though. I’d like to run a slipper clutch so she doesn’t strip another center gear. So now I’m going to try and adapt the optima rere slipper clutch. I’m hoping the optima center gear will work as well since I’m having a hard time finding a new one.
I have a few things I will try to stiffen the chassis since there is so much flex and get some ultima shock towers as the outrage ones are softer than jello.
Right now it has 2.2 wheels and tires on the front and traxxas stampede rear wheels. It was what we threw on it to get some traction on the old clay track. Now we have a turf track.
It also has an old rc10 body which will be swapped for an outrage body or old bug body.
If anyone has any input to help me with the gear issues I’m all ears.

Re: Outrage rebuild
I´d set it a side and buy a used RC10 instead.
Before You have upgraded the plastic monster to near usable state, You´d have spent 80 - 120 usd. (Towers, turnbuckles, gears, topdeck)

Re: Outrage rebuild
I have extra towers and some carbon fiber pieces to make a top plate and such. It’s my daughters first Rc car so she really wants to race it. I offered to buy her something else and she didn’t want it.

Re: Outrage rebuild
Then I´d suggest You talk to Jeff "Factory Works" Malar about a Lethal Weapon transmission with a slipper.
Or adapt a Stealth transmission. Retrofitting the Ultima transmission with Optima re-release gears is very expensive (You can´t reuse any of the original parts) and reaming the gearbox to adapt bigger bearings is not a fantastic solution either for a "daily" runner.

Nope, they aren´t cheap either, but it´ll save You the agony of spending 80 dollars on a gear upgrade that might not work properly.
Buy new OG ultima gears and mount some good stretched rubber on the rear rims without glue.

Re: Outrage rebuild
Finding new gears has been the problem. Lol I’ve looked for a couple weeks now and haven’t found anything.

That’s just crazy enough that it could work.GoMachV wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2017 3:49 am Or use one of the Parma slipper’s![]()

Re: Outrage rebuild
I´ve got the Parma slipper set - Let me mention that it had been mounted on the used Optima I bought, but was left to rest in a plastic bag when I received it
Not even Hot Trick would do such a poor job of engineering
