Current 10th scale big bore shocks vs older 8th scale non-big bore shocks...

Dangerous thing, but I got to thinking today while browsing eBay. Has anyone tried fitting current 10th scale big bore springs to older 8th scale shocks...? I know most were a 13mm inner bore but I wonder if the spring diameters would be close enough to fit. Matching up lengths might also prove tricky. I don't have any 8th scale stuff anymore or any big bore springs so if any of you have both of these on hand, would you feel like checking it out...? I'm thinking specifically of a set of big bore shocks that will fit my resto-mod Lazer ZX-R and a set of Inferno shocks would give it a cool, unique look.
