Widening rc10b3 rear

Post by fasteddie911 »

How can I widen my rc10b3 rear while keeping stock arms? Right now it measures about 235mm at outside of wheels. What rear hub carriers, axle or even cvd combo works and how much will it widen it by?

Are you trying to get to 250mm?

If you can use/find b4/b44 hubs, and b44 universals, that would probably get you to 250 but might be over 250.

No particular goal on the width, just tinkering around.

On the same note, are all 1/10 buggy rear wheel offsets the same? Does anyone know these specs on various wheels?

No. Offsets are all over the place. Most 'race' chassis from many manufacturers have the same or very close offset so wheels can mix and match. But a deep dive would take paragraphs.

Best to ask regarding your goals, or which car has positive or negative offset for example and go from there.

Your B3 wheels have more offset (deeper dish pushing the width wider) than contemporary racers. B4 rear hubs have the hinge pin more inboard than stock B3 hubs, they're almost inboard of the inner bearing versus centered in the hub of your B3. I feel like your best bet is to find a used pair of plastic B4 rear hubs and see how they look. B4 hinge pins are also a smaller diameter than the 1/8" pins on your B3 so if you end up using the B4 hubs, you'll need to ream out the hinge pin holes. Then you'll have to figure out a stub axle and CVD bone combination that will work properly. I'm sure you'll be able to closely enough measure how long you need from the diff outdrive to the hub and stub axle length once you get the hub mocked up.
