While looking at the pieces of my Kyosho 2014 Beetle, I noticed that the front wheels used 8mm od bearings. Seeing that 8mm is nearly identical to 5/16, I put some old 5/16 X 3/16 bearings in and put them on a RC10 axle.
The Kyosho wheel is a little thicker than the RC10 axle, but wheel is plenty thick between the bearings. It could easily be drilled out to allow the outer bearing to sit a little farther in.
They are 2" wheels. The standard tire is kinda hard, without an insert. However, I think that Kyosho offers a few options in this size.

Re: Front wheel/tire option
Doing a little research revealed that the Turbo Scorpion uses the same steering assembly and 8mm od bearings as well. It also appears that it uses a 12mm hex rear wheel.
So, this may turn out to be another 2.2 wheel option.
