Re: Losi XX modern runner build
I'll be honest, I'm not digging it. It seems to defeat the purpose of carbon fiber. CF is mainly to save weight, but the webbed part you cut out probably weighs less than the CF part that filled it in. I think it looks nice, but without cutting some webbing in the CF part, it just doesn't seem logical. I'm all about form, but never at the expense of function. This is an absolutely beautiful build, regardless!

Re: Losi XX modern runner build
^ I totally agree with what you are saying Coelacanth. However even though I am building this as a very capable runner, I'm probably never actually going to, lol. Adding the CF piece was just to try something different and create an interesting build. I'm still unsure if I will keep it on.
The front end is nearly done. I am using these 3.5 mm Bada Bling ties from RCSS. They make some nice stuff. Unfortunately I ordered the wrong length for the camber links. I forgot to take into account the longer length needed from the steering kingpin modification I made.
I was originally planning to use a Trinity front brace, but the Rusti Designs CF brace looks really nice, and ties in well with the other carbon fiber. Rusti makes really nice parts. I did need to correct some hole widths and locations, but otherwise they are on par with Jconcepts.

Re: Losi XX modern runner build
The rear tower is designed to use a B6 wing mount. I am using these lovely pieces made by Revolution Design. I am not a fan of wired wing mounts, so I really appreciate this option. I am trying to come up with a semi vintage way to mount the wing on my other XX without wire, and without cutting the rear of the body.

Re: Losi XX modern runner build
I was torn between using the steel MIP drives or the aluminum Losi units. I gave the steel units a good polishing, and I am going to use them. Given this is a runner, the steel drives are the only choice to withstand brushless power.
I polished the axles as well. The shiny outdrives, drives, and axles are hopefully not too much bling.
I am still trying to decide on the stock or Trinity hubs. These are my last pair of Trinity hubs. They are earmarked for another build, so I am nervous about using them without knowing I will find another pair.

Re: Losi XX modern runner build
Still waiting on some parts and hardware. I wanted to try fitting some 22 series Gen 2 shocks. With a bunch of tweaks, they fit well. The fronts are a bit too long still, but they will be corrected shortly.

Re: Losi XX modern runner build
I once thought I found a problem on one of your builds... turns out it was just fuzz on my screen.
I really like the look of the front brace, and the buggy as a whole. That motor plate and those tie rods tho!!

Re: Losi XX modern runner build
This build is creating the kind of reaction and 'Mmm's that has my wife asking accusingly what I'm looking at on screen

Re: Losi XX modern runner build
I just received the proper bearings for the front and rear hubs. I had been using some old rusty units as a place holder.
I also just received these lovely Lunsford titanium bolts for the front axles. I've never seen this swap done before but always wanted to try it. The nut is slightly shorter than stock, but that is preferred as the stock nut sticks out too far from the wheel.
I love it when the details are right.

Re: Losi XX modern runner build
I got some wheels and tires mounted. I wasn't sure what wheels to choose. I love black but I already have those on the other XX.

Re: Losi XX modern runner build
Added a Trinity Revtech 17.5 motor tuned by Rotor Ron. Also a carbon battery brace. The rest of the electronics are coming.
