Please expain worlds front end

Post by RichieRich »

Hey all. Can someone please explain the Worlds front end? Does this describe a certain setup? Truck nose plate with associated parts? Or is it the RPM kit? Or just a general long arm conversion?

There's the RPM "World's 91" setup that uses a truck noseplate (on a tub chassis) or on a RPM Ultra Molded chassis. The regular Associated World's setup is just a different shock tower with only three holes per side.

you can use the worlds conversion on anything with the narrow truck sized front kickup. the rpm ultra molded (as temple stated), composite craft "worlds", andy's pro race, or you can make one yourself from a standard buggy chassis.

Ok, thanks big time for the pictures. So, front track stays the same, just more suspension travel. It appears the rear track gets wider with those arms. Those arms are RPM parts, right?

rear track width with the rpm worlds stays the same since you have to narrow the chassis to mount the arms further in.

I was curious about this myself. I have a CF 10T Shock tower and was thinking about whether or not to use it on my RPM chassis OR I Could use it on my 10T as the front shock tower.

I also received in some spares from James (BikerBob) a larger front shock tower and wondered if it was an actual WORLDS shock tower. It does have the 3 holes on it.

Also- as an aside, Im wondering if folks out there have a copy/scan of the various shock towers. Im looking for the true RPM, WORLDS and any other unique Front and rear shock towers. Im asking because i have an acquaintence who works for a local plastics ship and if i can find and create a template, I may be able to reproduce some of these popular towers in plastic/fiberglass material. Initially my interest was purely selfish, but knowing many of my sister and brethern were looking for certain parts, like towers, i might try and see if i can get them made in larger quantity.

Does anyone know if the RPM team car rear end kit is much different than the World's rear end kit? I located one last week and could'nt remember whether it was similar or not.

Just to clarify: AE World's car has the exact same geometry (front and rear) as a Team Car. Now if you are refering to the RPM narrow chassis conversion, aka "world's", the rear end differs from the Team Car in that the rear a-arms are longer, but the chassis is narrower to compensate. There are plenty of threads here that will help you figure it out with pictures.
