HELP! I need some input before I go off the handle...

Post by Eau Rouge »

I just bought what I thought was a new B2/B3 stealth Associated gearbox off of eBay, and it arrived today, and is A) not new, B) not an Associated part and C) not complete.

I'm fuming right now, but I have no idea what this thing is. I'll shoot some photos of it in a couple of minutes, but does anyone know off hand of other cars that had "Stealth-like" trannies in them, with cheap, plastic diff cases and silver motor plates?

Grrrrr...

I'm trying to think of 2wd cars out there with gearboxes like the Stealth, with slipper clutches...

Kyosho ?
Tamiya ?
Schumacher ?
Traxxas ?

Motr plate is stamped aluminum, slipper clutch plate that is here has 3 holes in it. Case is black plastic, and resembles Kyosho or Tamiya plastic car quality. The diff is super tight and gritty and the thing doesn't even turn smoothly without diff action.

Yeah, eBay. $35, but that's the going rate for a B2/B3 gearbox, which are the same... I'm going to let this seller know that this isn't what he claimed to be selling. I want a refund, $35 or not. It's the principle of it all, plus, now I'm still without a gearbox for my backup Custom Works GBX that I need to sell.

Yeah, that's partially my fault. The pics were blurry and dark, but the description was "new Associated Stealth tranny" and I figured that if was any of them, I could use it in some capacity. I expected it to be an original or second gen Stealth, not some other brand.

:(

Any idea what that is?

Duratrax and their lack of inspiration, it seems they have been copying ASC from the start, with poor results :?:

yeah, thats a DTX Evader tranny. But I don't think it's that blech...
A friend of my bro drives one. It basically is a Losi XX with a "stealth" tranny. maybe not the BEST quality, but fairly priced.

Quality is not what I'd use to describe this item.

It's not anywhere close to a Losi or Associated box. It's not Radio Shack, but it's not worthy of being put into a race car, either.

The guy didn't know what it was, and he's offered a full refund. I'm waiting for my cash back to send him this diff back.

So... anyone have a spare B2/T2/B3/T3 tranny lying around that they'd like to sell me? :)

Wasn't the B2 compatible with the T3 or something like that??

If so:
