Just finished my BRE Datsun 510 for my Mini race car.We race on Wednesday nights in a control class with the Tamiya sports tuned or hobby wing system, its heaps of fun.Something tells me she will look worse for ware after the meet.I am very happy with the way it turned out.Thought I would share.

Its a Tamiya M03 Mini.I bought mine as a Suzuki Swift but I had to remove the specers as the body suits short wheel base.It should also suit the Xpress 4WD mini chassis and maybe the new HPI switch but not %100 sure.

Re: BRE 510 Datsun M03
Thanks Darryn.Im really happy with it and cant wait to put it on the track. They really are fun to race.At the Meakin park track you have to hold back around the corners or they just traction roll.Im trying to con Jason into coming for a run but he wont budge.
Mr Ed I didnt realise HPI did 2 versions. There has been a bit of talk about them but as far as I know the switch isnt in Australia yet and I have only heard of the 4WD version. All the reports are good.Cant wait to see one in real life.

Mini racing on carpet was the most fun I ever had racing. Shame t-cars took over my track a few years back. They got hot and fewer people were showing up with the mini's. I spent waaay too much $$ touring car racing that year. That sort of ruined on road racing for me. I love the car! Good luck racing.

Awsome job.
Those old 510's are awesome.
I had an AFX slot car with that body on it when I was a kid, it was one of my favorites.

They are 2 fully different cars I think; the fwd is not a 4wd without centeraxle orso.vintage racer wrote: Mr Ed I didnt realise HPI did 2 versions. There has been a bit of talk about them but as far as I know the switch isnt in Australia yet and I have only heard of the 4WD version. All the reports are good.Cant wait to see one in real life.
The japanese magazines had some articles on them. I'm not sure if they are released already: I just buy these for the pics.
My suitcase was getting heavy so I left the magazines with my parents-in-law, sorry; no pics or scans for you guys

Re: BRE 510 Datsun M03
So here is a question,
I just scored a Tamiya Mini to use around the house and chase my son. I ordered the HPI Honda Civic shell for it, but its a longer WB than the stock Tamiya WB. I know from my other TA02F Tamiya chassis that I can swap the arms and make a longer WB. My question is how can I do that to the Mini chassis? I swapped the arms around, however now i don't know where to mount the shocks.
BTW, the ABC M-chassis cars look hawt. I was thinking about getting one for racing.

You can change the length of the M03 chassis by adding or removing chassis spacers... these guys http://www.rc-mini.net/ are the known experts.... have a trawl!!!
