The last car I had in my youth was the Mardave Meteor , I guess it never got the development time I put into my Hotshot as my interests were moving on to real cars and the fairer sex . So now again it's the last car to add to my collection .
Now...

I've been working on lowering the body down , firstly with the rear shock tower I've lowered the body 10mm at the rear , the front is harder as the servo saver is very tall and it limits how far the front can be lowered so I had a plan :D
I decided...

This is out of the Mardave Meteor I’m reviving, the larger gear is really worn with the teeth at weird angles in places so I want to replace it, I don’t actually know the name for this type of gear. It’s fixed solid to the shaft,...

That is the first intermediate gear the second being the gear you mesh the pinion gear to
Hi all, I am rebuilding my SWB meteor that I last raced in the early 90s (at clydebank radio controlled car club in Scotland).
I collected it from my in laws attic when I visited a month ago. I'm building the car for grass and dirt outdoor racing...

Progress :)
Got the 16t pinion in the car, hopefully it won't melt the gearbox with the extra heat syncs I have added, also got new springs on the rear, new servo horn, new servo rod (filed down to length) and a new Futaba 3pv + t-fhss reciver (my...
Well, here’s a total blast from the past for me. I have seen a few nice Meteors being posted up on various forums recently, and entered into the various vintage race meetings, notably DerbyDan, and it really got me thinking about my first real race...

650cst shock oil seems to work - its also thick enough to stay in the shock with the crappy plumbers tape seal.
I think the modified meteor article from june 1990 also reccomends some shock oil (prob 30wt motorbike oil).
Won this one on eBay cheap and although it looked pretty terrible… underneath wasn’t so bad.

I stripped it down and rebuilt the front and rear. Of course while apart I copied the parts I want to have on...

Smart except for the metric nonsense
To be fair, most of the screws in a Mardave Cobra are self tappers.... so if you've got a bunch of spare AE or Losi M/C screws then why not, sure an upgrade from 'wood screws'
Just having fun with this old boy. Bit of work still but a good deal done already too.

Hi there - I'm hoping someone might be able to help me.
Before I start, I should mention that I have NO idea about building RC cars. Taking it apart would lead me to believe I'd learn fairly quickly, because I think it looks relatively basic in its...

I and many other forum members here also took a big break and had to catch up on all the new tech , many people were kind enough to me in explaining it all and I'm very happy to help you share and enjoy .

One of the cars that I have a lot of affection for is the very simple & basic 'Meteor' from the british manufacturer Mardave. My affection stems from the fact that after a brief period trying to race a Tamiya Hornet (& very quickly realising it...

I miss buggies like this, all new models are so complex! I like the idea of a super basic club racer, sure you give up performance but make it up with easy maintenance.
Come on Mardave, re-release the Cobra :) The club scene needs it.
Recently ive been restoring losi, i really like the history and the brand, but my RC racing started with Mardave banger racing. After a flash of inspiration in the shape of a toptrumps card i decided to get on ebay and see what i could find. 2 days...

I'm not going to call this a restoration as I'm not going to be particularly fastidious in my rebuild. I had the Meteor as a kid around 25 years ago and recently brought it from my parents house in England up to Edinburgh where I live.
It has...

Nice job, she's cleaned up well.
I picked up an almost complete car about 6 months ago, but am struggling to find rear inner and outer hinge pins to complete it. Don't suppose anyone reading this would be able to point me in the direction of any...
I picked up this Mardave Meteor recently in order to complete my 2wd collection. I knew about Mardave from a UK RC mag that I picked up in 88, but I really didn’t know too much about them. I recently did some research and I think the car that fits...

Nice to see some overseas love for the old Meteor :D
I started racing at my local club with my Tamiya Hornet & quickly replaced it with a Mardave Meteor which was a much better handling car, it gave me a couple of years of cheap racing (spares...
