Spotted this for $190 last night, and this fool and his money have parted ways - once again.
Have a Hobbywing 1060 ordered for it, as it definitely doesn't come with the ESC.

The paint and primer for this project is set to arrive today, finally. Really looking forward to getting this one finished. Need to continue to sand the nose, then primer, then paint.
The first hobby grade RC I ever saw in my life, was when I was riding the city bus at 12 years old. There was an older kid maybe 14-15, sitting in the back of the bus, with the Tamiya Sand Scorcher box in his lap. All I could see was the side of the...

Ordered the primer for this project on May 3rd - along with some other Tamiya colors from Amain, them being in Chico CA, and me being less than three hours away from there. Turns out their paint was shipped from Omaha NE, and is still listed as...
Found one of these on ebay for $123 free shipping from Japan, bought it.
Amazon has them for $140.

Looks great.
Life long Tamiya collector here. We all need a Pumpkin or Lunchbox in our life.
Thanks for bumping this one back up! I need to get back to it. This model really does have a great look to it, with the chrome parts and the decals on....
Amazon has the Lunch Box Black Edition for $116, bought it. Not sure why these are so inexpensive.

Got the Lunch Box chassis done today. It made me aware of things I had not done correctly on the Midnight Pumpkin, the shocks have a shorter-body pair that goes in the back.
Need to lengthen the ESC wires on the Lunch Box, and both of these...
This just showed up today from Japan, got another great deal. These seem to be drying up out there, kept seeing Last One on ebay, everywhere I looked, so I got one of these before I can't. Anything early air-cooled Volkswagen gets me every time....

Lengthening the motor wires, and the 1060 ESC wires took some time, the leads were too short.
Hi All,
Just like to share some modifications I've been making on my re release boomerang i bought a few years back.
I grabbed this off a bloke a year or so after the 2017 re release. He had partially assembled but not finished the chassis, But kids...

Had to do something with that battery space, so I made some side plates from 2mm Carbon and used the factory holes to fit some plastic servo mounts to hold them home.
Keep the dirt out. And kept my Carbon tube retaining screw I mentioned earlier...
I'm bored today and somehow got on the Stadium Blitzer. I think it is one of the best looking trucks and one of the best kits from Tamiya. Strong, reliable, cheap, easy to assemble and decent performance. I will never forget as a kid walking into...

^ those are awesome, and they are built off the Falcon chassis correct?
Built a replica with the re-re Black Edition. My first Tamiya RC truck was a Quick Drive Midnight Pumpkin in the 90s, so wanted to finally build a real one. Sourced original tie rods/white ends, era correct electronics, hardly anything else is...

The coolest ever use of the QD Midnight Pumpkin is when they drove them on the beach over a minefield for the Nickelodeon game show Wild & Crazy Kids. 8)
Offered in 2018, this is a special blue chrome plated body for the Tamiya Avante. This blue jewelry is made of unobtanium polycarbonate and come precut from the factory. It was unavailable for purchase in stores. The plating is on the outside, so...

The pearl pink looks nice!
A few more sparkling blue chrome pics.
Anyone know if this has been discontinued? I am reading some conflicting reports about a new shipment hitting the US in the fall, and that it's been discontinued. I'm also having a hard time figuring out if the ones floating around come with an ESC...

...not sure in the Blockhead but would like to score and original rere🤞
I enjoyed this build and have some general tips for your Top Force reissue build. The Top Force was the 100th vehicle in their lineup and was the next generation 4WD racer after the Tamiya Egress. This is a shelf queen and I opted for different...

This is my special build of the Tamiya Avante “Tokyo Chrome Special” TCS 2022. It is art and engineering on wheels. The foundation is a meticulously built 2011 reissue Tamiya Avante that goes along with a collectible 30th anniversary 2018 Avante...

Art on wheels seems like an appropriate description. That's a beautiful car.
Thank you. The combo esc and receiver was a very tight fit, but inside and outside it came out just as I imagined. I was surprised to discover that the Avante gold shock...
While browsing Horizon and Amain for in-stock Tamiyas, I noticed something interesting. Apparently some of their latest batch of vehicles include an older TEU-104BK ESC which, from what I've read, could be destructive when paired with modern...

Anyway, comparing the specs, it appears that the biggest difference between the '02 and the '04 is the max continuous amp rating (60 vs 75).
Yes, it's also a bit confusing as it should be able to handle a 10.5T easily with those specs, while the...
I know there are delays and backorders on pretty much everything these days but wondering if there is any news on something upcoming as far as Tamiya 80s reissues? Kinda bummed I missed the black Beetle reissue but Im not paying $500 for one either....

At first I thought you were wondering if there was anything out there like an 80's Horizon. I couldn't grasp why anyone would want an RC Plymouth Horizon!?!?
I have to confess to not paying a whole lot of attention to Tamiya or Kyosho in the past year, but is it me or have Tamiya prices gone through the roof? I pulled out an M-05 Mine Cooper kit that I have been meaning to build for a while and thought...

I saw one of these for sale as part of an RC lot. If the body hadn't been painted red I would consider making it my first shelf dweller. I assume its an original, it has a mechanical speed control and just looks the part.
I remember this car being...

If its a shelf display car then an original is the way to go, if you want to run it then get a new one, there's not much difference in the relative cost as the Grass Hopper was a very popular car back in the day (had one myself) so there are plenty...
This seller posted these a few years ago when the re release Bruiser came out, and then for a while stopped making them.
I pestered him enough that he started making them again.
Replaces the plastic gears in the new style gearbox.
My first set have...
I wanted one years ago real bad. My folks got me a JRX-Pro instead. Probably a better one anyway. But I still wanted Beetle. I thought I would be happy when I got the re-release Brat a while back, but no I wasn't. I needed the Beetle when it was...
What re-release would be best for vintage racing? i need something thats durable and will work with todays electronics as well as tires.
thanks

Wow, no love for Tamiya on the track....
Tires make the biggest difference if you plan on putting ANY off road vehicle on a track. And this goes for Tamiya as well. If you can find a way to get modern rubber on any of the re-re's they will be much...
I picked up a re release rear bumper for an original car. I wasn't aware that the re release was longer. I am ready to slot the bottom holes to make it work. What have others experienced and what were your solutions for making them work?
Thanks

If my memory isn't playing games with me, the first batch of re-re Sand Scorchers came with a rear bumper/cage that didn't fit, and Tamiya exchanged them for new ones for free.
(Or maybe it was the first batch of Buggy Champs that came with faulty...
Here’s my re-release Bruiser build, something I’ve wanted for 25 years. To quote Kevin Spacey “Lester” form American Beauty “The car I've always wanted and now I have it. I rule!” lol
It’s a very nice kit (as it should be for the price) and went...

You a lucky guy for sure. This is a great kit to own.Looks good on the shelf or as a runner on any day. :D
I picked up a set of the black wheels to use on a future project, but that's about all I could see myself using from this kit...
Maybe if my g/f ever wants me to build her a car I'll pick one of these up.
Good news for some of us. I'm just hope it's like the original and not just the body on some new chassis. I wish they would have picked the Wild One version instead though.

The rere chassis differs than the original. There is now notch (hole) to one side on the chassis and A-12 part, that allows for the battery connector to be exposed. D parts and Roll cage are black in color (use to be tan), front damper mounts,...

The street price would be cheaper than their entry-level rc vehicles.
I'll update when I get more info on it.

I'd never forget the FXT as it just might be my favorite stadium truck of all time. :) I have a NIB one sitting right here next to me that I really need to build.
Hey guys,
I just finished building a re-re brat. Got all the electronics in it, but when I give it throttle only 1 wheel spins and it doesnt move. I took apart the gear box and everything looks fine. I can't figure out what it is. The wheels turn...

Thanks lowgear for the detailed answer! I checked the pins and they are there. So the problem has to be another. I noticed that the diff is kinda stiff though. Driving me nuts......
I built myself a nice Tamiya Top Force.
I have never been a Tamiya fan , but i always liked the Top Force.

Now that's a quality build. I've always been a fan of the Tamiya Top Force family. Now, I just need to convince my wife that I need one... but seriously, top notch build. The blue an gold colour combination is spot on.
I am pretty excited. First new RC purchase in about 10 yrs. I ordered a Rerelease Grasshopper for my 10yr old son for Xmas. (Notice how I stopped buying RC stuff about 10yrs ago AND I have a 10yr old son? LOL)
I wanted a good solid beginner kit...

Tamiya is re-releasing the sand scorcher. Finally I can get another one. go to for more info.
This would be awesome. I'm sure it would have a different name, but I bet Mrlexan could make some new decals for it.

Why would you want to sell your nib scorcher?
