Jrx-2 Mini Bumper Question

Post by m2fit4u2 »

I am thinking about installing a new mini bumper I have for my Jrx-Pro. This bumper has a spacer built into it that adds a lift to the bukhead and steering bell cranks. This will actually lower the front of the chassis slightly. This does call for trimming of the original bulkhead. Does anybody know what Losi's intentions were on adding the spacers? Is this just ment for the Jrx-2? or any of the chassis with this configeration?

This front bumper fits under the front bulkhead so the spacers bring the steering linkage up to the equal height that it should be after the bulkhead is raised. Your bulkhead may not need trimming just the really early ones did and then they changed the design to eliminate the need for trimming.

Thank you for the reply.

I do realize the reason for raising the linkage but my question is why change the design of the bumper to this? Adding the spacer lowers the front of the chassis thus dereasing ground clearance and even usable suspension travel.

This is the original optional bumper for the jrx-2. Early cars came with just the lip of the front bulkhead to protect the front of the chassis.
The bottom mount bumper was standard on the pro and junior-2, this would be a step backwards for a pro.
I'm not sure why they ever bothered with this bumper design, the bottom mount is much simpler.

I am not going to use it. If some one is in need for a brand new one let me know, I have no use for it.

hello All,

You guys are correct with regards having to trim the original bulkhead lip to get this bumper to work. I used this bumper on my car but quickly got rid of it because it caused the front turnbuckles (on the steering rack) to pop off easier. I spent a lot of time and some money trying to figure out why this kept happening.

Back in the day, I mad my own mini bumper that mounted under the chassis. As soon as the new bumper came out, I switched over it.
