I will take all your "worthless" boxes of old cars!toyowner wrote:I'm just flat out pissed that they did this. I have boxes of old cars now worthless and not even wanting to finish any of the now. Why not just do the Bruiser up like vintage and destroy the value on the two I have as well.

Dude! You have the originals, the new versions are all different in some way or the other. A true collector will know that and your old kit values should still be high!
Get over yourself!

I kind of like the idea of not having to pay $2000+ for a new Sand Scorcher myself...or getting sniped on eBay by some moron that out bids you at the last second for a well over-priced beater.
Maybe the "collectors" (scalpers) will take a hit due to the re-releases, but for those of us who have patiently waited a couple decades to be able to afford a toy we couldn't afford in our past...well, let's just say I'm feeling about "0" sympathy for them right now....
Projects and shelfers:
Late Edinger, RC10B2, Dual Sport, GT, Kyosho Turbo Ultima, Triumph, Tamiya Sand Scorcher, Blackfoot/Monster Beetle, '67 Beetle, Nikko Rhino, Traxxas Fiero, Slash, Hand-built Dune Buggy..all on here somewhere...

You have to ask yourself the question........."Why am I doing this?"toyowner wrote:I'm just flat out pissed that they did this. If you are doing it because you love the originals - then it matter 3/5ths of STUFF ALL about the re-releases - as it is about the ORIGINAL not the re-re. The original will always be the original.
The "value" of an original will always be the same to someone who wants an original. If you are collecting because it might make you some money - GET OUT NOW - and put it into something that will actually make you money.......an investment this hobby is not.
Cheers
Darryn
P.S - I have quite a few rare old NIB kits, however I really do LOVE the re-re's.......then again - I dont do it to make money.

Re: Next Re-Re - Sand Scorcher
Thats my problem. I do more of buying and then trying to sell for a profit than anything else in this hobby.RETRO R/C wrote:If you are collecting because it might make you some money - GET OUT NOW - and put it into something that will actually make you money.......an investment this hobby is not.

The thought has crossed my mind many of times that I should get into a much more lucrative hobby instead. But then I realize there aren't any. All the ones that used to be like card or comic collecting for example died after the introduction of the Internet and eBay.

Re: Next Re-Re - Sand Scorcher
I could care less about the collector market anymore.
Y'all can keep your $500+ rebuilt beaters, and I aint paying 2 grand+ for an NOS one in the box.
My brand new 'Scorcher is on it's way home at about $10 less than 1982's LHS price!
How's it possible to hate & love Tower hobbies at the same time?
$60 dollars off & free shipping!...whoo hoo!
At last, no more searching, no more eBay scalpers!

Not in stock at Tower till mid Feb! I know Asia has them and Tamiya Canada got an air shipment and is shipping only 4 to us today, but at much higher price than normal!Diggley wrote:I could care less about the collector market anymore.
