My Scrap-Built Runner

I built this a few months ago with the leftover spares I've received in parts lots, and decided to take some winter-themed photos.

This is the first off-road RC10 I've built...everything else has been on-road oriented.

The chassis is an A-stamp that I cut down, drilled for a Stealth, cut off the motor guard which was flattened, and powdercoated semi-gloss black. The long front shock tower was included with some other parts I bought and uses rear shocks. The tires are AE TQ-20's and TQ-70's mounted on chrome wheels. I rebuilt the Stealth with new parts and added a new Viper body, but everything else is used.

I was hoping someone could ID this tower. I got it with some 10T oval parts I bought from a member on here.

It's flimsy fiberglass and a portion of the bottom between the bulkheads is broken, but it works for me.

Great pics! This makes me regret I didn't make pictures when we had snow but I guess it's pretty unpleasant to take pics with freezing fingers.

That looks great. How is the flex on the chassis? I have a used one that's been drilled out on the sides, I wanted to just cut them down to a small lip like that. Only problem is he drilled one right close to the front edge, I'll neep to fill or brace that or something.

I've only run a few batteries through the car so far, but nothing has broke or bent. With the chassis screwed to the bulkhead and nose tubes, it seems fairly stiff. It's just a beater, so it should hold up. It was the first chassis I've cut down and is by no means perfect, but looks OK.

I changed things up a bit with my runner last weekend, and here's how it looks now:




I replaced all the white plastic pieces with black-dyed parts, switched the cut-down tub to a saddle-slotted graphite chassis, added MIP CVD's, added an AE wing & BRP wing wire, made a bumper from plastic, added a Trinity Psychotic Reaction 13T single motor, powdercoated the springs and body clips flat black, painted the body satin green and dyed the wheels black.

Sorry, I made a mistake in my post. It's a new AE wing from Tower, not sure of the part #, and a BRP wire kit.
