Quck answers on Candy Blue Pactra PLEASE!(Pics added)
I'm in the middle of painting a new shell for my Savage. How translucent will Candy Blue be? What I mean is, should you still be able to see thru it when you back it up with white? thanks

so you backed it with white and you can still see through it? normally the blue is just a tint and you should be able to really see through it. if it were me, I'd back it with mettalic silver to get that deep candy metal flake look.

No, it's just blue now so you can see thru it pretty easy. I forgot about how the candy paints work so I didn't think about the backing color. Stupid me. I spent $100 at the LHS on Slash and Savage shells along with paint and still didn't get what I should've. Man that's typical of me!
. That answers my question though. Thanks! We'll see how it turns out...

you can back it with silver or white, or even other metallics. The white will show if you have any uneven coating of the blue much more than the silver though.

i'd back it with silver, but you might give it a try first on another piece of lexan and compare it to white backing. I always used silver so far.

...and if your facing a pretty uneven looking coat depending on how you layed it down (hold it up to a light to see how it looks) you can even be real liberal with the candy coats and then back it with black, which is different, but also can look pretty cool imo.

Re: Quck answers on Candy Blue Pactra PLEASE!
Well, I used white to back up the candy blue. Here’s how it turned out. The Proline body has too much detail around the doors. I shouldn’t have put the pinstripe down the side. I would also make the hood scoop blue if I had it to do over again. I was more concerned with my Slash to be honest. I’ve actually had this body for a while so I didn’t spend $100 all at once today. That makes me fell a little better. This was going to be the Colts body that BrandonG was gonna paint for me, but I blew my cash on different project.

I’m having serious log in issues again too so hopefully this will post. That’s another thing on my agenda this week…

i don't think that shade looks bad at all.
i am a big fan of candy blue, but i've always backed it with silver. i have considered using gold to back the candy blue but have never gotten around to it.
i never considered backing it with white but i think it looks good and i might give that a try in the future.
i would be interested to see pictures of other colors used to back up candy blue as well.
does anyone have pictures of any candy red painted bodies?
