- COMCOM'ed "old is new" runner RC10 -

I've been willing to build a "what's old is still old..." runner with Dynotech arms and RPM transmission for ages. This project had been on the bench for too long and I had to start it when I bought a car from Brandon that already had them. It is still a mock-up/test fit at this stage as some parts and details will change after I will have re-assembled everything. So here is what I have so far:

- Dynothech a-arms
- RPM tranny
- Losi threaded shocks
- B44 rear hubs with B4 CVD's
- Fibre-Lyte shock towers and transmission brace
- Lunsford turnbuckles
- RPM front bumper

I installed the B4 rear spacers inside the rear hubs, but it looks like they are too short and when I tighten the wheel nuts, the whole drive train is kinda binding. Are the B44 spacers longer or should I look for another solution and if so, which one?

kinda looks like the pin is ready to fall out of the outdrive. how 'bout taking the b4 wheel spacer out and just use 3/16" axle shims to take up the slack? one or two thin ones on the outside so that the rim won't bind on the hub, then the rest on the inside.

You need the B44 or GT2 bearing spacers. #7933

I like the use of the mini nuts. I see more and more people using them lately to reduce weight. I think its a good idea, I use them on my rock crawler and will be using them on future cars too.

I decided to work on this one a bit further as I finally got the right bearings to use the RPM RC10GT rear hubs and recently received B44 rear CVD's. I also ordered the Custom Works 0.125" rear spacers that will not only enable to clear the rear a-arms from the rims, but also obtain a rear trackwidth that is consistent with the extended front.

I also decided to go the full COMCOM route with this one as I had a carbon tub chassis with a RC10T carbon kick-up laying around from a previous build that was dismantled after completing (and taking the first place) a 6 hours enduro race 2 years ago. So just a teaser for now as I found back this thread after digging quite deep into the forum; I didn't want to do it twice Pictures will follow soon. I hopefully plan to install the electronics next weekend. I'll keep u guys posted!

As promised, some pictures from the rolling chassis as it sits right now. Still a lot of details that need to be fixed (wing support, rebuild shocks...) but I'm getting close to be able to run it. The underside of the tub has been covered with a Teflon liner which should help protecting it from big scratches I received the Custom Works rear spacers this weekend but had no chance to install them yet. They are definitely the part to have when chosing this "old is new" set-up as they not only bring the rear track width to the same dimension as the front one with the extended GT10 front axles (roughly 24.3 cm) but also help clearing the rear arms from the rims and using the outmost shock position on the rear arms. Next update with electronics! Stay tuned buddies!

That looks beautiful. I tried the same thing with the B4 wing mounts. I had nothing but problems with them. When the car flipped on track, the mounts would turn and come loose since there was only 1 screw in each. Eventually I gave up on them and went back to the stock wing mounts. It was a neat idea though.

try RB5 or xx4 wing mounts. They are pretty similar but give you 2 screws per post.
