Are Lazer ZX5 & Optima front knuckles interchangeable?
Here's another technical question for you guys...it appears that the front hubs/knuckles for the Kyosho Lazer ZX5 & regular/Turbo Optima are interchangeable, the only difference being an extra outboard hole for a tie-rod ball.

I used those to repair my yr-4. They are not exactly the same dimensions as the optima ones but workable.
You could use the TF-2 etc knuckles: same shape as the optima but fiber reinforced plastic instead of cast metal

Thanks, ED. What are the differences? I've seen these in aluminum and they look like wonderful upgrades to the stock black plastic ones. It'd be nice to know in advance what I might have to mod to make them work.Mr. ED wrote:I used those to repair my yr-4. They are not exactly the same dimensions as the optima ones but workable.

If I remember well I had to trim them a bit in the height, but it could just aswell be I had to add some spacers. I'll try to remember and check when I get home: if I still have those parts installed on the YR-4

I have the 3 racing versions for the ZX5, and had to cut them down 1-2mm in order to fit the Lazer ZX hubs (which used the cast OT style knuckles). -Jeff
