tight people!!
pardon me if i have raised this subject before, i see many bargains on ebay and struggle not to buy them, i in turn put them in the watch list(always full 200 items ) out of curiosity and its a common theme that arises, instead of the item selling someone bids on it instead! i just laugh as its always going to sell for more then the buy it now price which was a steal! are there that many "tight a**es" around or what? all i can say is WAKE UP!!!

I made that mistake a few times before I figured out how this vintage game works.

Re: tight people!!
I've bid on things with a cheap BIN and actually won them for much less than the BIN.
Sellers should either keep the BIN in listings after bids are placed or put their items on a non-auction site.

Re: tight people!!
ebay works that once a bid that reaches the reserve is placed, the BUy it now vanishes automatically, or if no reserve, any bid will kill it, no way round it, to reinstate, you have to cancel all bids and add Buy it now back again. Stupid, but that's the system as it stands.
Mind you some buyers are dumb, I was selling a crawler, bids only, a guy asked what would I take and could I add a buy it now, so I did and emailed him back, by the time he looked, someone else had hit the button

Re: tight people!!
Depends on your budget too!
In the past I've put a bid on an auction as I couldn't afford the buy it now price. As LTO_Dave said, you can sometimes win the item for the bid you put on.
In those situations you could argue you'd be crazy to pay as much as they ask in the BiN!
What I can't understand is people who list an auction with a BiN price of the same amount as the starting amount and then some fool bids on it!
