Optima MID replica Joel Johnson WC Romsey 1987...
Hi guys,
I continue my replica familly Kyosho /J.Johnson, these are the pics from now , the problem is this car is a prototype only for this race and some drivers have one
The original.
On mine the chassis is in Graphite Trinity, graphite shock tower (hand made), and Upper plate in GFK (handmade too).
All the electronics work...
No slipper on the proto.(hand made)
Alloy arm supportand spécial screws (handmade).
The front bulkhead with antiroll bar fixation, differente alloy plate, and bumper cut from an Ultima.
Bumper.
The rear bulkhead is with out wing fixation, nylon toe in support (handmade).
I'm at this stage my problem is to find the strapping tape with fiber on all the width, maybe 3M ref 8934 Tartan scotch but is no distribute in Europe , help need , I stand the tires, I have the Optima Pro body, I need to found a Red Alloy Motor Spacer Kyosho LM 15
And a TRINITY motor Puregold with steel cage Kyosho 6 holes...

Update pics with the right Camber tower in graphite (hand made) and the wheels and new tires set , but I have a poor yellow for the wheels ...
I know the original pic have the Ultima wheel in Yellow paint , but Joel race with the W 5024...and I prefer

Re: Optima MID replica Joel Johnson WC Romsey 1987...
This is the infamous wimpy motor ad...Gonzo batteries and Wimpy motors was run by Lee Morrison back in the day. From what Lee told me, he decided to name the motor line Wimpy with the sticker using the whole ad line, and Ernie from Trinity wound up suing him over it. I think the case wound up getting thrown out since the phrase was not registered as a copyright (not to sure on this), but the upshot was that Ernie wound up copyrighting everything from then on...all the driver's names-Joel Johnson, Kinwald , "monster horsepower", etc., anything......

Amazing project!
Did they ever use eight cells on that chassis or was six cells used and placed in optional slots to move the weight to fit different tracks?

Thanks guys
The body is from the Optima PRO, cut on the rear, this car was the prototype of the MID.
The 6 cells use for the World in back and 7 cells in States, used too for Dirt oval.
