JRX2 steering rck/sector arm help

Post by RCveteran »

I am working on bulding a 5 link racer right now. I have parts to come up with any combo of X2/Pro/Se steering. I am thinking as of now I wil be running a short X2 chassis and 5 link.

I will be using pro SE shock towers since they are thicker and a bit stronger and offer more adjustment of camber length and shock position.

Should I be running the long sector arm with shorter X2 style bellcranks or the pro red bellcranks with shorter sector arm. I have both ball bearing and non non X2 bellcranks available as well, one with a JG brace. Not sure how I feel about the brace as it seems you have to rely on threadlock in rack as you can't crank the shoulder screw down.

My basic thinking is to try and get the steering turnbuckles as close to the camber link length. I know there is more to it but I have to start somewhere? Any thoughts?

Also, anyone try an LXT tower on the X2?. I like this tower as it is thick and offers a lot of adjustment. But think it might be overkill.

I would use the red bellcranks, with the pro se tower combo for longer overall camber links and steering links-

the JG servo saver lockout bracket is actually supposed to have a button head screw run up from the underside of the rack, with a nylon insert steel locknut on top.
If you are making a racer I would go for the ball bearing version of a rigid(non-servo saver) bell crank setup, regardless of color. A couple 3/16 axle shims on the steering posts will take up the play in the bellcranks. Use a good servo saver on the servo, or maybe none at all if you are using a metal gear servo.

The short steering sector arm seemed to give more bump steer to the otherwise stock jrx-2 front end, but the pro-se tower uses longer camber links, so I think it balances out.

Thanks, I have a ball bearing rigid arm for the non servo side, my servo side arm is the flexi. So right now I went with rigid arms on both using my one BB, and the 3/16 axle shims were a great idea. Really took the slop out.

I will start with the SE shock tower and short sector arm and see how that goes.

Now onto picking shocks, I have enough stock shocks and can rebuild them with the new 5015 cartridges, but some threaded ones woudl be nice.

As for the rear five link, I am going to start with the .050 shorter toe in set up. Has anyone ever run the JRXt wide rear links on a buggy, not sure about measurement for legality but most probably wouldn't care. I should set up with my intended B4 rear wheels and .125 spacers and measure it up.
