Re: Marui Galaxy Rebuild - Finished!
Here's a photo of the rear end mods needed to fit 12mm hex-drive wheels and much larger-diameter shocks with ball-cups. The wing was mounted by drilling straight through the roll-cage mounting posts where the original wing was screwed on with self-tapping screws, and inserting a U-shaped piece of stiff piano wire from underneath. A pair of zip-ties keeps the wire from moving anywhere or allowing the wing to flop forward or backward. The original wing mount sucked as a single roll-over could tear the wing right off the screws. That's exactly what happened to this car BITD.
The Tamiya Frog 12mm hex adapter fits perfectly after shaving 3mm or so from the business end. The wheels spin nicely, with no wobble.

Re: Marui Galaxy Rebuild - Finished!
Very interesting build information great job you must be extremly happy with your rebuild. I am currently putting a Blue Marui Galaxy back together for my grandson here in Australia and I am wondering whether you could point me in the direction where I might be able to buy a main gear assembly(48 tooth on the larger gear and 20 teeth on the moulded smaller one). Noticed that your gears appear to be aluminium or steel? regards Peter O'Dowd [email protected]

Re: Marui Galaxy Rebuild - Finished!
Not very familiar with the Galaxy, but again an excellent build for sure! I really like the you-G tyres.
Probably a minor point, but why is there significant positive camber on the rear? Is this how it is stock or a "side-effect" from your modifications?
I agree with Lars that it needs a driver.
Excellent stuff overall...

Re: Marui Galaxy Rebuild - Finished!
Thanks for the comments! The Galaxy has no camber adjustment at the rear. All Hunters and Galaxies have this same appearance with the downward-angled rear axles. Where the rear arms mount to the chassis, there's only one pivot point (the pin shafts) and the wheel ends of the arms have no uprights. The axles just stick straight out from the ends of the arms.
