Double-X gearbox for the JRX

Post by fredswain »

Who here has one? I've never seen one in person. Is it the same gearbox internally as that of the XX car but with a different case so that it can fit on a JRX? I'd love to find one for my racer.

Now the quest begins for that case. What driveshafts/cvd's do you use with it?

I have one that is new but missing a few bits and bobs if I remember correctly. Drop me a PM if you're interested.

The retrofit trans uses a similar dog bone to the one used on the xx. I beleive it's part a-3081. I'm not sure because I didn't use this trans on my off road cars.

Using the dog bones changed the characteristics of the car. The XX sport came with the sliders on the trans. These parts can be used with the retrofit trans...so you can use the sliders on your car.

If I can use the standard driveshafts then that would be preferrable. I am wanting to see if I can use the XXX-cr VLA outer hubs to get a greater offset so I can run the XX/XXX style wheels and the stock driveshafts would make this easy.

I use RPM H arms stock trans and stock xx mip cvd's. I built my car to run as much stock Losi parts as I could.

I do have a set of the RPM truck front arms, XX steering, and the Trinity wide axles so I can use XX/XXX wheels up front now if I want. I got the idea from you actually! I'm not happy running those wheels on the rear though as even with spacers the width is still too narrow. The fronts work just fine but I'd still like to have another option as I have more than one JRX but only one set of rpm arms. Besides if the VLA hubs work front and rear then it could be a simple upgrade for those wanting to easily run 2.2 wheels. I at least want to test it.

Asso: I sent you a pm but I'm not sure if it went through. If it did then you probably got it twice
