Stormers Monster

Post by Bob-Stormer »

Sorry if this is in the wrong spot. Posting in the gallery takes the fun out of this, as you can't discuss the car. And this car generally leads to discussion. I hope you find it inspiring in some way and you get out and build something!!! :D

Thought you guys might appreciate this. This is what 450 hours of spare time gets you.

It's getting a few upgrades this summer. The body is going to pivot from the back and be raised up by gas cylinders, like a funny car body. and I'm going to upgrade the servo to a "Tone" and re-do the linkage and finally powder coat it and get it painted. Maybe only 60-100 hours left. :)

Bob the builder!(sorry I have a 5 yr old) Did you ever consider 4 wheel steering? I figure an extra 75 hrs is all it would take... Killer project you have there. 8)

i know... I've got a 41 chevy truck about 60 hours from driving under it's own power (full size). I keep puting it off to do this kind of stuff. ;)

It's the power transfer through the steering knuckles that's the killer. I spent a fair amount of time looking for clever solutions to drive train motion transfer. I'm confident it can be done in a VERY effective manner with a "swivel" from a socket set. I tested a few out and have a favorite. :)

Got it off some dude on fleabay. they are fiberglass bodys for kids strollers. the kinds you see grandad pushing around at a car show. I think they run about $200

I wish I had a cool Australian accent... :) I think the USA accent is almost a LACK of accent and style. Unless your from the deep south, then you get a cool accent again. Or if I had a cool British accent. that would be cool too. ;)

Yea, kind of the same thing as entering the arena to pick up dead and twitching fighting robots... Sketchy business, that.

If there is more info on this project, please point in that direction. Otherwise, what motor, controls, specs, etc are in it? ...if you would let that out.
