rc10gt hubs interchange?

Post by vwjuice »

Now that I'm getting the bug to build my 6-gear as a racer, I am trading another rc for a RC10gt this coming weekend.

I'm wondering will the B44 or GT2 rear hubs work on the GT? I'd like to use the quick change hubs on the GT2, but I'm think you need the axles and rear hubs or carriers?

Also would the T4 front castor blocks and steering blocks work? I could then use the front quick change kit as well.

I have all this on my T4 so I have a lot of tires and wheels already.

Thanks for any input guys,

Justin

You are talking about putting the quick change on a GT1, correct? If so, yes it works, and you do not need to change the hubs. Here is the conversion kit for the rear. It may take a little shimming to get it perfect, you may want to pick up a pack shims too.

The front will also work if you ream the hinge pin hole in the T4 caster blocks out to 1/8". This also makes the truck wider and gives it better handing. Use the in-line steering blocks for the best results.

The rear hubs will work, although you have to drill out the hinge pins to 1/8"- and the QC rears do use a different axel stub and bone-

Yeah I was told it's a gt1 and from the pics it looks like one.

I want to put B44 rear hubs on so they have the larger outer bearing and because I have a complete setup currently on my T4 so I would just swap them and put the T4 back to stock.

Just to throw this out there, another option would be to use RPM hubs with the over-sized bearings. They use 1/2" bearings on the inside and outside, then you wouldn't have to drill anything, and you could leave your T4 the way it is.

I didnt know the rpm ones had larger inside and outside. Will the quick changle axles still fit? I want the larger bearing but I have probably 10 pairs of brand new tires and wheels for quick change axles.

Yeah, the quick change will still fit. Here are the RPM hubs. They also sell them with bearings, but they charge like $25 more. Better off just buying the hubs and sourcing your own bearings. You can use 1/2"x3/16" or 1/2"x1/4" bearings in them, so you can use them with 3/16" or 1/4" axles.
