Chassis and parts restoration questions

Post by madweazl »

I've been hunting for a new project and would like to do a box art RC10. Have my eyes on one in particular that is in very nice condition but the chassis does have a few light scratches on the bottom and what looks to be some damage to the anodizing from batteries in the tub. I can get the scuffs off the bottom easy enough as they have barely gone through the anodizing but I'm curious as to how tough it would be to get the anodizing redone accurately? Any tips?

Also, I've seen it mentioned a few times that people are running their parts through a whitening process but I havent seen any info on said whitening process. What is involved with that? Again, parts look very good as it sits but I want it as close to new in appearance as I can get.

Box art is tough. The biggest challenge is getting the period correct decals. I have everything I need EXCEPT the decals.

Not even mentioning the correct electronics, spring cups, prototype shock towers, linkages...

I'll be leaving the car itself untouched but will match the body best I can. I found these from a thread in here somewhere.
