MIP Tranny Question

Can anybody remember or know what year MIP transmissions first came out? I've got an Edinger with one in it and was wondering if it would still be considered "period correct" with that transmission installed. Thanks for any input provided.

Remember it's either a runner or a shelfer. Everything else is just parts.

I think they came out in 1988 or 1989. I bought mine at R&R hobbies in Quincy, IL during a race at that time. It was probally 1989.

So I'm guessing mine wouldn't be period correct then. You can see the actual car in the gallery under Lexus's Legion and maybe someone could date it for me...thanks in advance.

i found a new in bag MIP tranny part at a hobby store today, i believe it is for a rc10 tranny since it was in a box with a ton of old NIP 6 gear tranny parts, but it is definetly not part of a 6 gear tranny.

it was $16 i think, it is a White...

Can anyone tell me if this is a MIP tranny? As I still don't have one, I can't recognize it for sure, especially from that top view...thanks

Asso, the bearings are metric, 5x11x4mm and can be found all over ebay.

hi guys

does any one no much about these mip trannys ive rebuilt this one and the diff has no thrust plates is this the way they are and also what slipper do i use.

a little known fact, these gears can also be used in the Sand Scorcher transmission

I've never seen the inside of a sand scorcher trans but if it has an Idler gear will it work in the
SP-1?

Yes it shoudl work but keep in mind CRP made a brass...

I hadn't checked into eBay for a day or two and when I did,I found that I had won this MIP tranny for the RC10 for the pittance of US$20!
It's totally complete,apart from the three bolts that hold it together (thankfully) and even includes a NIP...

I have a guy wanting to trade me a MIP Tranny from a 10T, for a T3 almost Roller. My T3 has no electronics or bearings in Hubs or Stealth, and the Stealth is missing Idler Gear and Shaft. Sounds like a decent deal to me, but what do I know? I know...

Guys,
I have a MIP sp1hd transmission that was on a shelfer (new, never run). I decided to take it apart to clean/lube for first time in 19years. After rebuilding, I notice the original lube ( the red stuff-looks like regular trany lube for a 1:1...

Do you need a special slipper unit to fit the MIP tranny? :oops:

Was looking in the manual and it's pointing the stock slipper unit but it don't fit on the MIP shaft....the shaft diameter seems to be a bit too big....

Heysguys im new to vintage rc hobby, but i wanna build old rc20t but i keep seeing old MIP tranny cases in different colors (flourecent yelow ,blue,etc) but cant seem to find them any hell woukd be great
