Question about High Down Force Wings - 6181, 6182, 6183,6187
Just wondering - how do you properly cut and mount these things? How do you paint it? On the 'outside' or 'inside'?
Also for the 6187 wing kit, I bought one and tried to wash it out as you normally would, but I couldn't get into the small crevices and so the paint didn't stick very well. What can you do?

Re: Question about High Down Force Wings - 6181, 6182, 6183,
Normally speaking you paint them on the outside, so that the decals and appearance look glossy on the main "top" part-, but on the 'high downforce" wing, it's painted from the bottom ( whichis the inside )
The wing wire will need relief cutouts where it goes into the front of the wing since it has that big dip- and scuffing with a green scotchbrite pad inside seems to help adhesion.

Thanks. I think I know what you mean but some pics would help so I can see what you mean.Charlie don't surf wrote:Normally speaking you paint them on the outside, so that the decals and appearance look glossy on the main "top" part-, but on the 'high downforce" wing, it's painted from the bottom ( whichis the inside )

Re: Question about High Down Force Wings - 6181, 6182, 6183,
The 6187 wing is a six inch wing. But here are two four inch ones I have mounted . I just washed them with soap and water . I painted them on the bottom side using faskolor and a airbrush . Dried each coat with a heat gun. For the tight spots I just poured the paint in and dumped it out and did the heat gun thing to dry. Sounds crude but it worked. One wing has the wire passing threw before the dip and one shows wire bent before the dip.

Thanks guys. I have hacked up the 6187 I did for my son's RC10 pretty badly (didn't measure the spacing on the wing buttons properly - oh well, he didn't care) but for my shelfer I wanted to make sure I got it right.

Installing wing wire is a huge PITA!
I always hated doing it... still do.

I still waffle back and forth between that and assembling turnbuckles.THEYTOOKMYTHUMB wrote:Installing wing wire is a huge PITA!I always hated doing it... still do.

Just bringing this back from the dead - can someone post a pic of how to cut / mount this wing:

I'm guessing the pic on the Tower site has the wing upside down?

Just what are you after? There are pics on this site of every wing made for the RC10. If Iam not mistaken the wing kits come with instructions.
