Build up of my Rocky/ Turbo Rocky..
I have just started on my Turbo Rocky.
I always wanted a Turbo Rocky cause of the higher spec's that they came with. So i bought a rare Turbo of the bay here in Australia for a steal of $130 . I hated the lines of the ugly poxy shell so a new TBG was ordered for the Rocky. This move proved to be a bigger headache than I thought. The standard Rocky has a different rear shock tower for the Platinum shocks, hence the rear of the new shell wouldnt mount up.
So I bought a new standard rear shock tower ( was only $7 Nip) So on with the new body but the rear of the Rocky sits quitw high but this is how it's designed. Not happy with this i shortened the body mount and custom made my own.
Body sits a lot better now. New white Rocky wheels were ordered . So it's a rocky body/wheels with a Turbo Chassis. Gold Uni's all round, Alloy chassis and will be running with blue alloy threaded shocks all round.
Not sure what motor/esc combo yet as the drive train is super free and might be good in 540 silver class at the next vintage meet.
Comments welcome good or bad LOL...

Re: Build up of my Rocky/ Turbo Rocky..
I have a few Rocky's and Turbo Rocky's and for some reason I seem to like them, they are not the best built car sharing a lot of parts with the raider so I don't understand my fascination with them. Nice work.

That'll look really sharp with the blue shocks & gold universals, Mark. I liked what Kyosho did bringing in the Rocky back then, a budget 4WD buggy with not-so-budget performance. Of course they had to cut corners but the Rocky series held its own against the Tamiya offerings and the price was low enough to get a lot of kids into an affordable 4WD buggy that wasn't a joke on the track.

All Finished just waiting on a new brushless set up to arrive.
I like the look of the Rocky on a Turbo Chassis.

That looks great, Mark. How did you do the black stripe "gills" beside the side windows? Painted on or Sharpie'd before painting the yellow?

When I have a minute I will take a picture of my Turbo Rockys and add them to your awesome one!
Franco
Oh forgot to say I ordered a Dirt Burners Diff for a Raider so I'm sure it will work in the Turbo as well since they are the same tranny!

Re: Build up of my Rocky/ Turbo Rocky..
Thanks Marc, Franco ,Lars & Hcp22.
The shocks do match well and had them in my inventory . The Black gills was just marked on with a sharpie on the out side.
Franco do your Rocky's body sit high at the back??? Mine sat really high on the stock mount. I always have had a soft spot for the Rocky & thought the Turbo would be better to run but seem to be a lot harder to find. The Turbo has a horrible body in my opinion.
Ball diff looks nice . Good score.

Re: Build up of my Rocky/ Turbo Rocky..
The Rocky body doesn't really sit well, even in the pictures Kyosho used in the Catalog the body seems be falling off the car. The Turbo body doesn't seem to do that because it has dual mounts at the back. I also have Gold Dirt Burner Front and back Arms for my Turbo which I have not put on yet.
Re: Build up of my Rocky/ Turbo Rocky..
Gotta admit I always loved Rocky's. My mate's bro had one when I was younger, never saw it in action but it looks so nice in yellow, incidentaly the same mate I bought my Raider off!

Very nice Franco.
All Turbo's I see.
I agree that the Rocky shell doesn't stay on well at the back.
