My Rocky not that Rocky my kyosho Rocky

Post by 328isjohn »

This was my very first 4wd car kit I bought...My girlfriend and I had went to my parents for the weekend and I was bored
so I went into town and went to the hobby store...my girlfriend didn't want to go so I went myself..well I came home with
this kit and she was so pissed cause we were supposed to be saving money as a couple.Funny thing that idea was one sided
I had bought this right around the time I had started my career as a machinist and after seeing they sold a turbo rocky kit and
not wanting to cause any more problems...(ahem nosex) I figured I would make my own turbo rocky parts....looking at it today
the chassis is a direct copy of the original with correct bend and all..the top plate looks rather crude but it worked.
I drove this until I got my used optima which has been handed down to my 9 year old daughter...
funny thing is I still have the car but don't have that girlfriend and now I have one that actually likes driving them

You did have me fooled on the chassis, I didn't know you were a machinist. Nice looking piece!

I think I started my path into the trade in the mid 80's....this was my first project I ever did for myself..I still play with the idea of making a carbon fiber top plate for it and taking the chassis to work and clean it up.....but after spending the day now doing CNC stuff I think twice....But you never know...funny thing is I never painted the body....always liked running the clear body on it.
