Re: shelfer poll
For "real life" experience I took a crappy cell pic of my current shelf rotation. This is my fate 'til I build my barn or move. Again, servos and a motor maybe, but escs and rxs are out of the question for me.

Thanks everybody!
I really need to evaluate this now, in depth.

Re: shelfer poll
For your build definitely add the electronics. You're using the mechanical speed controller and without the servo you've got no where to mount the wiper arm. Once you got both servos in there's really no reason left not to put in the receiver too.
As for a motor I think every car should have one...regardless whether it's a runner or shelfer. Even if the motor is left unwired, it's better than the hollow look of an empty motor plate.

Re: shelfer poll
Not sure if you saw my gallery but I prefer to install electronics. It really adds to the realism and challenge /creativity to find cool vintage servos, esc's, etc. The bad part is that it adds significantly to the cost.
Re: shelfer poll
To me electronics is a must as long as they are period correct. That's just my 2 cents.
Those are my toys and no I will not share!

Re: shelfer poll
It doesn't matter to me... Personally if you are displaying them on a shelf and not running them, its simply a model car regardless if it has electronics.

Ahh, an electronic tampon. I like it! Reminds me of a phrase I like to use on my wife.scr8p wrote:period electronics
"Damn! Who lit the fuse on your tampon!"
Meh, she loves it...
