Rear axle rollpin tip...

Post by REMJ666 »

Use Shoe Goo to keep your axle pins in place...DO NOT EXPAND THE ENDS BECAUSE YOU ARE AFRAID THEY WILL FALL OUT !!!! Then the next person who you give the car to or sell the car to has to resort to medieval tactics to get them suckers out...SERIOUSLY IT WORKS...And keep a spare pack of pins just in case...Just my 2 cents for the day :)

Good tip. I think the previous owner of my car did the expanding thing, bearing maintenance was near impossible until I got new axles and roll pins. Has anyone tried just using a nail in place of the roll pin? It worked fine for me.

yep a solid pin will work you just have to be careful removing the wheels to not lose the pin. Or, take the roll pin and lightly (ok, maybe not THAT lightly) squeeze it down until it is a firm push into the axle, not so much to need pliers, but not so much it falls right out.

I don't think there is any small straight metal object on Earth that I haven't used as a pin at some point in my life. I think cut off body pins have probably been used the most because they were easy access.

Longboard: what's wrong with the rollpins? Did you shear them?

Do you have a part number for the solid pins?

In speaking of piano wire, how does it work as an antisway bar?

I have never tried it for sway bars, but I think it would probably work well.

yes alot. i run the rtr b4,t4,sc10 dogbone rear axles(or the same size cvd setup on some of my cars) on alot of my rc10s . if your talking about the larger tapered axles the stock pins are fine. its just the wheels are harder to get for the old axles so i try to set up most of my runners with the new style axle.
