Hot Trick Tamiya Red Fox on the shelf

Post by rangerg »

I posted before about finding a new in box Hot Trick Red Fox (see here: http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=27566&hilit=red+fox).
Well, I finished the car up awhile back and I'm posting a few pics of the Fox on the shelf. It was a fun build and I like the way it turned out. Looks good on the official Hot Trick stand.

This turned out great! I'm currently building one of these and using Kyosho platnium shocks. The instruction are not that clear as with most hot trick stuff. I notice the front shocks on yours are mounted on the outside on top and inboard on the bottom. I've seen others with inboard mounting both top and bottom and outboard top and bottom. Do the shocks bind at all on your build? I know yours is a shelfer but I may run mine and would like to know the best way to mount them. Nice build!!
If things seem under control, you are just not going fast enough.

Man, that's got a snoot on it that Toucan Sam would envy... Looks nice with all the red, but looks so out-of-proportion with the Fox's dinky li'l wing and slender, shapely front half.

Transamman908, they seem to be fine like they are. I always like my shelfers to at least have the potential to work. There is a big nut behind each shock. I see how you could mount them both outside (I may try that to see how it looks to me). It would be tight to mount them inboard. The platinum shocks are so wide. Thanks for the post.

Coelacanth, yes the body is a bit short and the car is front heavy :-). I tried it with a bigger wing, but in the end I wanted to use a complete stock Fox body. I like the Hot Trick conversions, but the ones that make you use a non-stock body end up almost unrecognizable. Thus, I wanted to keep the Fox body, despite the flaws. It's like the ol' Fox wearing a too small uniform.
