Ok, found a 93teeth one, but still it's 48dp, and thus still considerable smaller than 100t M0.6

I think Tamiya has a 100 teeth spur which you could put traxxas slipper pegs in, but I don't have a partnumber or even an idea on which car it sits in.
Actually its 88 0.6 module LA-2 or 100 48p TM-7

100 t 48p can e ordered from www.rwracing.co.uk

Just found out that HPI makes carbon reinforced 48DP spurs up to 93 teeth: http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/6993/. So maybe I still should go for a slipper that allows the use of normal spurs...

So for the layshaft/slipper I've decided to just try something:

3Racing makes several pulleys for drift cars, including a 14T oneway that fits a 4mm shaft. Although I'm not entirely sure, I suspect it will fit the front belt on a Lazer just fine.
For the layshaft, I'm going to try a HPI Sprint 2 layshaft, which seems to be the right length and have the pin hole for the rearwards pulley in the right place, together with a 15T HPI Sprint 2 pulley (hopefully it will fit in the gearbox).

Which leaves the slipper itself. Looking around on Ebay shows a few options:
- B4 slipper, for which the HPI layshaft will need some modification
- B3 slipper, uses pin to keep it in place but unsure whether hole in slipper plate is for 4mm layshaft.
- Duratrax Evader slipper, same question as B3 slipper.

The advantage of the B3 and Evader slippers is the ability to use a regular spur.

So some preliminary fitting tests show that:
- The rear gearbox will take a 15T pulley :D
- ...but to fit the rear belt some material will have to be sanded off the insides of the gearbox...
- ...and the HPI pulley will need some minor modification to rotate freely (pulley flange too large).
- The HPI layshaft is the proper length, but the hole for the pin is just 2 mm or so too close to the e-clip end. Or: why couldn't Kyosho fit the layshaft bearings from the inside instead of the outside of the gearbox? :(
- However, if the pulley is installed reversed on the center pin hole, the HPI layshaft will fit. :) Some custom spacers and inventive bearing assembly (bearing in bearing :P ) are required.
- Such an assembly limits me to single-pad slippers, unless I find a safe way of extending the layshaft.

Now if that 14T one-way could show up I could make a assembly mock-up and take some pictures... :|

Edit: possible solution to have more of the layshaft stick out: flanged bearings supporting the layshaft fitted from the inside of the gearbox - that might gain the required 2 mm...

I know the Duratrax Evader slipper plates are built for a 5mm shaft.

So, besides trying to sort out the layshaft/slipper, I added several other bits to the car:

Lunsford turnbuckles for camber links and servo-steering link:
lunsford-bits-1.jpg
Long ballstuds for attaching the camber links to the shock towers:

I also picked up a set of alloy Duratrax front uprights:
duratrax-fr-upright-1.jpg
However, these had a problem: the hole for the outer bearing was too small, and the outer bearing would not fit in whatever I tried. So I found a tube that was just a fraction smaller than the bearing hole, wrapped it in sandpaper, and sanded out the holes until the bearings fitted:
duratrax-fr-upright-2.jpg
Instlling the Duratrax uprights in the Lazer ZX-5 c-hubs was too much of a challenge, as I got to this point:
duratrax-fr-upright-3.jpg
...with these spacers sourced in a parts box for the lower kingpins, and in need of more spacers to get everything to fit properly:

Around this time I found some cheap LA-59 c-hubs for the Lazer ZX. Too bad about the ZX-5 parts, but it's too much work to make them fit properly.

Why not go for the La-219 wich are the hub and knuckles for the zx5

easy to get and works some filing and they are good to go.

Wouldn't something like this work? Kyosho TF3/4 C-carriers for the Lazer by GPM...in fact, I think it was your recommendation for ME to try. :)

If you like limited suspension travel...see last page why that didn't work. LA-59 + the alloy uprights work fine.

Tried that, they don't work with the long Lazer ZX universals. I managed to source the LA-59 for less than what new universals would have cost me.

Hmm...the bottom part of those C-carriers have 3 hinge pin holes which would permit you to mount them more outboard...the innermost mounting position indeed is meant to fit the stock Optima dogbone/CVD length, but I wonder how much length you'd add by pinning the carriers to the outer holes...I could do a measurement tonight if you want?

After getting really fed up with trying to make the 15 tooth HPI pulley fit the rear gear box (it doesn't work, the belt's way too tight), I gave up. Untill I recently noticed that 3Racing was planning to release a 14 tooth pulley. When the pulley came available I searched high and low for a reputable place selling it and couldn't find one.
But 3Racing...accept direct ordering!

So a 3Racing 14 tooth alloy pulley was ordered, and took about a week to arrive:
14t-pulley.jpg
I test-fitted the pulley, and it fits perfectly when combined with my homemade spacers.

I filed a small flat spot on my HPI layshaft, and then loctited the pulley's grub screw in place, giving me a functional layshaft:
layshaft-with-pulleys.jpg
And look, it fits perfectly into the gearbox:
working-layshaft.jpg

So, the next step is creating a functional slipper assembly. A few months back I already picked up a Axial slipper from Ebay. It's a single-pad slipper and it came with a 87 tooth 48DP spur, perfect for my purpose. The slipper in question uses the proper size pin to attach to the layshaft, but is meant for a 5mm layshaft instead of a 4mm layshaft. So I need to find some tubing that I can use as a sleeve on the layshaft, and I'll have to order a thrust bearing that fits in between the slipper and the ball bearing supporting the layshaft.
